I've noticed this "we are rebuilding theme" that has seemed to taken over this franchise, players and its fans the last couple of years. IMO this attitude, excuse, or whatever you want to call it is causing us to lose our sights on the present. Sure I would love to see us have a young superstar at every position but you could be waiting forever for that. In this league as tough as it is getting guys are constantly getting hurt, so the guys we drafted this year might not be ready for next or be as good as they once were after they recover. Right now we have Ricky & Ronnie(a rare occurence)on this team along with some other guys with some experience that won't be around forever. You can see guys like Vonnie and how Z.Thomas(when he was here) want to have a "go for it " attitude but the organization keeps holding ourselves back. Tom Brady is done, leaving the division up in the air a golden opportunity. We need to start attacking this season like we can win the Superbowl(how you should approach every season) instead of lowering our expectations an being happy with a three or four win performance and then slap a label of rebuilding on it and say we'll be good next year.Give a healthy Qb a shot for once instead of these limiting players like Culpepper ,Green, or Pennington. If our WRs are mediocre and we need a star Wr make a move for one. What is the point of bringing in Henne or Beck in half way through the season into a losing atmosphere and allow them a chance to get hurt for next year. We should come out firing all weapons early in the season in order to stay competitive and keep a chance at the playoffs alive, but instead we seem to go with these old unhealthy vet Qbs and get eliminated by the midway point killing our confidence. I mean where's the drive to play hard and win if we are eliminated so soon and then your just leaving guys susceptible to getting injured for nothing. We need to focus on the present because there is no guarantees for the future. The "go for it now" attitude has been lost somewhere along the line and has been replaced with the excuse of rebuilding. How long does rebuilding take ?We aren't the only ones doing it? All teams rebuild every year at draft time but they don't let it stop them from making moves to win in the current one.

Its not an excuse to suck. Its a reason why we are weak at some positions. Some people expect us to be solid at every position on the field after ONE offseason. Look, we are coming off a 1-15 year. Every position on the field needed help. We simply can't revamp 53 players in 1 offseason. Its impossible. BUT, we have people bitching and complaining that we didn't address WR, we didn't address safety, blah blah blah. Well no ****, we addressed as much as we could in one offseason. OL and DL have been solidified. Now we won't have to look at those as much next off season. We'll be able to take a more serious look at WR and the secondary. The problem is everyone thinks this is Madden 09, and you can swing trades at any point in time, or release/sign people at will......

Real good post man, and I somewhat agree with you. People will come in here and say "we aren't one player away from the superbowl" and I say how the hell do you know? I don't know what are cap is like but what would it hurt to bring in a proven superstar and increase our chances of making a run? Once again excellent thread.

This year is an audition because parcells needs to find the players he can go to war with and you need regular season action and speed to figure it out. is my only guess.

To me the only players that impressed me were our 5 rookies, fasano and ronnie brown, the rest looked like the same old team. maybe parcells needs to turn over the other half of the roster, the half of players that he didnt bring here.

What superstar? Show me an available superstar right now. Wait, more than that, show me a superstar willing to play for a team coming off a 1-15 season. Like I said previously, this isn't Madden......

Right now if you bring a healty Tom Brady do we go to the superbowl? NO...ok if We bring in Brady and Moss do we go to the Superbowl? nah, okay lets bring in Brady, Moss and Asante Samuels? playoffs, maybe a maybe....We are rebuilding

I never said there was an available superstar at this exact point in time bro, I was just speaking in general. A lot of the posters act like bringing in an a Boldin' or a Lito Sheppard would have been a bad idea. I'm no front office expert but I'm no slouch. I know my stuff. So this sarcasm about "this is not madden" makes no sense to me.

Once again, the same excuse that the original poster said you guys would make. We didn't say bringing in one of those guys would make us a superbowl team. But they would make us much more competitive and give us more hope at contending for a playoff spot, no?

I wouldn't say Lito Shepard is a superstar really. Thats neither here nor there though. The problem is the massive contracts that big name free agents command. More often than not, those guys don't perform as well as they did on their previous team anyways. So not only have you tied up a huge portion of your cap in one guy, he is performing only marginally better than the guy he replaced. Best example of this? Washington. They bring in more "big name" free agents then anyone, and they never even make the playoffs. We are doing it the right way......

We are rebuilding, and its just harder for some people to accept than others.
Theres a huge difference between rebuilding.... and re-tooling tho..... teams like KC,ATL, and MIA rebuild... Trading away guys like CC, WW, and JT is how you do it. We can't win with them now, and by the time we hope to be winning.... these guys will be in their mid to late 30's.
A great example of retooling is the Jets..... is this what you want ? Sacrifice the future for just a shot at winning this year ?
I want my team to be Consistent contenders, year in, year out.....

more like eat what you have now because your hungry, then buy more fruits when there is a harvest.

How exactly do you expect to win right now then? Our WRs are nothing special, and the secondary needs a ton of work. We are, at least, 1 off season away from being competitive. Realistically, 2 seasons away from being a legit contender......

These guys get paid to win...The FO has made it clear if you under achieve your getting tossed...The Miami Dolphins fans need to change the culture of their mentality...expect to win..
