Good article showing that Wallace catches most of his balls chest level

this just proves that wallace needs a near perfect ball to his bread basket in order for him to catch it.

And we don't have a qb that can throw a near perfect pass... so it's a catch 22 with these 2.

actually, you should say thanks Dawn. She writes the checks and makes the deals. I dare you to challenge me on that fact. It was documented by media that Jeff was the good cop after dawn was bad cop. In other words, Dawn would do take it or leave it deals or put the language in there that makes it to our advantage later on. Jeff did none of this. The GM does not enter Dawns room at contract time.

Most worthless dare ever.

C'mon buddy, c'mon. I am very aware of how our front office works. Thanks for the irrelevant clarification on our contract negotiator, though. So are we going to start thanking or pointing fingers at Aponte for all the FA's that have or will walk through the door in Miami Gardens? :bobdole: On second thought, please do not respond as this conversation needs to proceed no further.

Mike Wallace doesnt fight for the ball? STOP THE PRESSES!

Haha you were the one who told me I have no idea what I'm talking about with Hartline catching with his chest. What happened last night on his drop?

Id rather have Mike Wallace on this team than not. If we didn't pay him that price someone else would have. We had no choice, we gave away marshall and we had nothing. Not talent no speed. We needed this..There was no one better that added up to his skill level. God I hate all this complaining. Damned if you do damned if you don't. Wallace is proven. We are still waiting on Ryan Tannehill. This is his year.

Wait, so you are basically saying that Hartline catches with his body more often than not, because of one dropped pass last night? You realize Hartline is a very reliable WR? You really have no clue what you are talking about.

So now we know Wallace has a catch radius of a few inches to match his verticle jump

Haha, wow. Yes please do tell me I have no clue what I am talking about some more. Why don't you go watch the tape and look at the graph showing he catches most of his passes with his body. You do realize Wes Welker, who is better than Hartline is also a body catcher? Please tell me how I have no clue what I am talking about? And please spare me the idea that I don't think Hartline is a good receiver as I have said he is before.

if i'm not mistaken, that chart shows where the ball was thrown, and their percentage of catches. it has nothing to do with catching with the body...

Now I've only studied a total of 10 seasons so far, but in all 10 the receiver caught at least 60 percent of his passes at chest-level, which is really where they should want the ball most of the time. That's a natural catching position. Three of the 10 seasons had 70 percent at chest-level and Wallace had all three of those years. I broke down the chest targets into high and low. Chest-high is for plays where the ball still arrives at the receiver's chest-level, but he's left the ground in order to make that happen. Chest-low is usually the result of a player crouching down or making the catch on his knees, but still at his chest. These aren't common as I've only marked 25 plays as chest-high or chest-low and Wallace has 18 of them. As the next table shows, Wallace has consistently been making most of his catches at chest-level.

Three seasons, three offensive coordinators, (mostly) two quarterbacks, but those are some strikingly consistent rates for Wallace.

Its a good read breaking down Wallaces catches and Hartline and Gibson as well...not sure if its been posted already but figured id post it up.

Really good article. However, it seems to have turned into another bash Wallace thread. Wallace was brought in here because he can outrun his coverage and catch the deep ball, like he did with Ben. The problem is we don't have Ben on the team.

Also, like a comment on that page points out, you really need stats to show what percentage of a poorly thrown pass a receiver catches, to determine his ability to catch that type of pass. Tannehill is more accurate in his throws to Hartline than he is with Wallace.
