Good for you, Ricky. Now think playoffs.

People believe in things and then can change their minds. We all do. RW is doing a PR move by not publicly starting a war w/ the dearly departed and gone from the NFL forever Wanny. He is trying to choose a single reason to retiring last year instead of saying he could not play for a coach. He was going to retire after the year anyway. He was losing the desire to play football b/c of the poor aproach the team had. Chris Carter and others that came in(including Feeley) mentioned how confusing and disorganized the whole staff, practice the entire operation was.

He could have held out and demanded a trade or fire Wanny and everyone would be riding him like TO now. RW is more like Barry in that regard. Instead of ruffling feathers, walk away. He did what was best for RW,Miami, and the game of football.

It sucked, and we all were baffled. Ricky has never quit on his team during the season or in a camp for that matter. He has said he missed the game, he is passionate, and is going to try to move forward and be better than before. He is showing it in his work ethic that has already won his skeptical teammates over.

Let's all hope he finds that inner peace and someday maybe we will all have it to!

Forgiveness has nothing to do with accepting. I can forgive you if you punch me in face, but I don't have to be your friend. Your boss can forgive you for stealing from the company, but you are still fired. And I hold no ill-will towards ricky, I just wish he wasn't a miami dolphin.
How can you forgive, and not want the kind of talent Ricky will bring to the team ?

You could punch me in the face, and I could have you over for dinner the same day.(Not that I'd be trying to reward you  ) That's how I see true forgiveness.

You know, it seems kind of odd that most of us are falling right back into place...so easily forgiving ricky's sins when we have some repenting to do too. If Ricky doesn't come back, then we've got 90% of FH's members still hating him and the other 10% not caring. Now that he is back, we're all running to be the best friend again...all because we know he can now help us.

why are you speaking for me? for anyone? ... what sin? i don't remember needing to forgive him for anything... Where do you arrive at this 90% number?... "We're all running" to be his best friend? ... What?

you're awesome...

Thats what I am talking about. I think we all had a bunch of mixed emotions from the day he quit until now. I don't ever remember bashing RW but I was quite upset when he quit. As time passed I was like oh well....whatever. The one thing I will thank RW for is the crumbling of the Wanny error. As I said before though I will cheer on the Dolphins like I always have. I don't have to like Ricky but I sure as hell don't hate him. He is a Dolphin and the Dolphins I will be cheering on.

Good post!!! I've always been a Ricky fan....that's saying a lot for a former Texas Longhorn:fire: player. Anyways Ricky is a top 5 RB and for those who don't want him on the team is just silly!!! I think Ricky can be with the Dolphins for a least another 2 years....I know he doesn't want to play for a long time but why let him go to another team and then Ricky rushes for 1800 yds...they go on and win the Super Bowl!!!

FINALLY... i couldn't agree more... i've never had hard feelings about Ricky, enjoyed him at Texas, and New Orleans, was ecstatic about him coming to Miami... this just makes me admire him more...

Says no to an idiot box reality TV show...

good for him... GOOD FOR HIM!!! ... good for him for not selling out to yet another soulless freak show that is "reality" television... they'd just wanna make a buck off his social anxiety problem anyhow...

i don't really care what anyone says ... Ricky's a lot smarter than anyone knows or thinks... blaming him for last year's debacle is assanine, ... Ricky saw the train wreck of a system and coaching staff far ahead of time, and he had an exit strategy... doing what HE wanted to do while young, and not be anyone's "boy"... it would be one thing if he was a mouthy punk, but he's not by any stretch... He's painfully honest, but kindhearted and never a braggart... Can't say that for 90% of the players in the NFL, who are either like T.O., or give cliche boring interviews... Ricky was the difference between 4-12 and 5-11 last year.... Certainly NOT the difference between 4-12 and 10-6... sorry... wasn't happening...

He just wants to play ball hard, contribute, and be left alone and do his thing... This crap about "oh, he could quit again at any time... he can't be trusted"... Well, at what sacrifice? So that he can be plunged straight ahead behind a turnstile offensive line 30 times a game? 40 times? 49 times (Bills)? With a whiffle-ball armed quarterback and a rookie, over-matched offensive coordinator? With a coach/GM with no real longterm plan who were running the franchise into the ground? ... That was last year...

Think of the worst job you ever had... Or the worst sports coach you ever played for?... Did you feel compelled to play for idiots? Work for idiots? When it got beyond bad, and your physical and/or mental well-being was truly at risk, did you stay?.... Why?... Life is too short... Love your country and your family... But not your company -- which (news flash for you workaholics) usually doesn't give a **** about you 'cept for results... And usually unrealistic results at that .... And when you meet or exceed those results, they only want you to do even more the next time around...

Ricky knows he's working for a man now that has it together... Saban is committed to winning, and has a clear strategy, and is honest with his players and exactly what he wants from them.... and I believe Ricky knows this.... Unless he's dealt for value (which he IS earning for himself this summer), Ricky isn't going anywhere...

Ricky may have inadvertantly wounded a lot of Dolphins fans, but that's their problem now...

I, for one, would like nothing better this season than for Ricky and Ronnie to lead the Dolphins deep into the playoffs... And lower a "truck stick" shoulder into all the loudmouths who ripped him for every exaggerated issue .... From the ganja to the "loyalty"...

I do hope those negative threads are still available... When he starts punishing defenders in October, I'll have some research to do to find them.....
Well said. I've posted several discussions just like this on this board in the last month, but couldn't get anyone to bite on it and give thoughts. You're absolutely right on with his motivation for leaving. It wasn't just the pot thing, that was just the straw breaking the camel's back. It was, IMO, the knowledge that he was getting thrown into a job which involved him smashing his head against a steel wall day after day for an underqualified OC and an underachieving OL and coach. Imagine you just got a job and your first order of duty was to dig a trench two miles long and your work crew consisted of superintendent who just wanted to be everyone's friend, a foreman who was also on his first day on the job, and a couple of fat lazy turds for crew mates who just happen to be the supers nephews...get the picture...is that a job you'd consider saying "F-it, I"m outta here...get someone else to be your punching bag".
If I had to bet, I'd say that was RW's state of mind last July. He saw things coming that others did as well, but he did something about it. Well, actually I did too...didn't pay the $250 for the NFL package...I knew there was little to no hope left...it had been squashed by years of ignorance.

I'm just saying I feel a little hipocritical throwing all this support and love towards ricky when I know I was hating what he did last year. I never sent ill-feelings towards him as a person, but I wasn't for the guy at all. Now he's back and we're all like "Oh Ricky man...Never doubted you for a second...we all need a break sometime...glad you found yourself...Go Ricky!!" It just kind of makes me sick to see that kind of stuff when we haven't earned his love back. You don't think he knows that all the people who cheer him on were the same people who threw stones in his direction? I just feel guilty about the whole thing. Like we need to do something to show him that we forgive and we forget and...this is a big and...that we are sorry for what was said and done as well. Then we can root for him honestly, not "pharisee" like. Ya know? Or am I way off?
How can you talk semi-religiously, and not understand forgiveness ?

Man, you're like a genius or something.

Dave used Ricky because he had to. For the team to win Ricky had to get the carries, and Minor just was not good enough to be trusted in taking some of those carries away. Ricky could be the greatest guy in the world, but if he is, than why did New Orleans take Deuce after trading basically there future for Ricky? People are bitter not because Ricky could be a bad guy, but the timing of his retirement. With the many close games last year, you think the team gets one more victory, with one of the top backs in the league, at that point? So then there really isn't much difference in RW and Sammy Morris? I didn't really care that Ricky did what he wanted to do, and I can't blame him for that, if he retires right before the draft, and he doesn't open his mouth, he is thought of more like Robert Smith. Instead he goes on 60 minutes, and it seemed like something Ricky said would be leaked out, and it just made him sound dumb, which I don't think Ricky is. I don't know what Ricky is thinking, and what his motives are for coming back, I don't care if it's all about the money, because I think there are many more players in the league who want the money, than play for the love of the game.

Dudes...

I wasn't saying that we shouldn't forgive him...heck no!!! I was saying we were the ones that need his forgiveness in a way. The guy walked away from something because of so many reasons...many of which most of us will never understand. But did that stop us from bashing the crap out of him. Nope. I said 90% because there wasn't a soul...NOT A SOUL...that backed ricky's decision publicly last year. If you say you did then I certainly didn't read it. I was on here all the time to read thread after thread about how he's so selfish and how he sold out his team and how he should die and all that crap that gets way blown out of proportion. NOW...

I was commenting on how everyone is just going back to how it was like nothing happened with comments like "I forgive him" and all that. Now lets just play ball. MY POINT WAS THIS...

WE ARE THE ONES WHO NEED TO BE FORGIVEN.

I know what forgiveness is and there was no semi-religous tone...I know what it means...but this is different. I totally forgive him and after the fact, with my 20/20 hingsight...I think it was a bold, calculated move that will probably end up making Ricky a stronger player...using more heart than ever. I mean he's not about the money if he's saying no to tons of it. $600K for shaving the locks?? Wow. But has ricky forgiven me for bashing him and wishing him ill-will? That's the point. If he rushes for 1000 yards...do we deserve this benefit after the scrutiny and sheer hatred that we gave him? Next time lets read my whole post before writing that i don't understand what you wrote. I did. My point is that I feel...not you neccessarily...ME...I FEEL like a hipocrite for cheering him on when I know in my heart that I was hating him a year ago. I want him to know that "I'm sorry too"...instead of him thinking that we all need an apology. Thanks for listening.

Man are you like 3 years old? I wasn't speaking for you. Read my post above this one and you'll see that I never referred to what people think...I simply stated what I feel in reference to what has been going on. I feel a bit crappy about hoping he "helps" us after we turned our backs on him and hoped bad things would happen to him. Instead of supporting a decision to leave. Ya know. That's all man.
