Good for you, Ricky. Now think playoffs.

Dudes...

I wasn't saying that we shouldn't forgive him...heck no!!! I was saying we were the ones that need his forgiveness in a way. The guy walked away from something because of so many reasons...many of which most of us will never understand. But did that stop us from bashing the crap out of him. Nope. I said 90% because there wasn't a soul...NOT A SOUL...that backed ricky's decision publicly last year. If you say you did then I certainly didn't read it. I was on here all the time to read thread after thread about how he's so selfish and how he sold out his team and how he should die and all that crap that gets way blown out of proportion. NOW...

I was commenting on how everyone is just going back to how it was like nothing happened with comments like "I forgive him" and all that. Now lets just play ball. MY POINT WAS THIS...

WE ARE THE ONES WHO NEED TO BE FORGIVEN.

I know what forgiveness is and there was no semi-religous tone...I know what it means...but this is different. I totally forgive him and after the fact, with my 20/20 hingsight...I think it was a bold, calculated move that will probably end up making Ricky a stronger player...using more heart than ever. I mean he's not about the money if he's saying no to tons of it. $600K for shaving the locks?? Wow. But has ricky forgiven me for bashing him and wishing him ill-will? That's the point. If he rushes for 1000 yards...do we deserve this benefit after the scrutiny and sheer hatred that we gave him? Next time lets read my whole post before writing that i don't understand what you wrote. I did. My point is that I feel...not you neccessarily...ME...I FEEL like a hipocrite for cheering him on when I know in my heart that I was hating him a year ago. I want him to know that "I'm sorry too"...instead of him thinking that we all need an apology. Thanks for listening.

I forgive this

It is so nice to see a shift in the Ricky posts. And not just because he is producing but because people are realizing he really is a very smart and nice man that has gotten the shaft from the old regime and media and has had some issues to deal with.

Good post

Geesh, a little harsh, don't ya think? You make it sound like he F'd your mom or daughter, then left em. He quit his JOB because he wasn't happy for whatever reason. It doesn't really matter why, he just wasn't happy. It's unfortunate that his decision affected so many people, but he needed to do whats best for Ricky, not you or his teammates. Don't be so closed-minded. You not in his shoes and you don't know what you would have done if you were. You can say, 'Well I would have quit earlier or after the season', but in actuality you cannot know what you would've done unless you can see things from Ricky' perspective.

Mod Edit: First warning. Please read the TOS about personal attacks.

Why is that whenever someone disagrees they call the opposition close minded? I think it's either arrogance or insecurity. Is the thought that a perfectly objective logical mind could possibly have a different outlook then you just not possible. Or maybe simply intolerable that someone took a seemingly "higher road".

Huh...
I think you missed my point. I'm sayin the guy is closed-minded for calling Ricky a POS and other names when he doesn't even know the guy in real life. He sees an image on TV or on the football field and feels he can judge that person based on that limited and surreal time. That is why I called him closed minded. If he OPENED his mind to different ideas, maybe he would see a little 'Ricky' in himself or someone close to him. Oh and BTW, based on your tone in your post, you're the one that seems arrogant. I was just expressing my opinion like everyone else.

Yeah dude, seriously. Chill out. I wasn't insulting your mother, I was merely insulting the way you reacted to Ricky's retirement...like he personally hurt you or someone in your family. I would apologize and give my condolences, but after the PM you sent me forget it. I could care less about you or anyone associated with you.

and I wouldn't blame you. I apologise, I flipped out and have no excuse whatsoever to talk to you like I did or make the associations I made, none.
I am sorry and again I apologise.

you ricky haters will turn to the good side after ricky goes for a buck fifty and two td's against the bucs week 6.

so all you really want, now that you think Ricky has "recovered" and become trustworthy and won't let you down, is to hunt down the "haters" and rub it in everyones face? as I recall, the "haters" only responded to the butholes who think EVERYONE will be sucking his diick as soon as he gets 150 yards in a game. It was the lovers who insulted the integrety of the haters by insisting that we would ALL change our lifetime views because of production. We did not create thread after thread attacking those with opposing views. I have been told by f-n teenagers that "you cannot be a REAL fan" if you do not love Ricky(sell your personal values and embrace this quitter). The only thing that will really validate those with the "winning is everything" attitude is for us that view this as a moral value issue to whaffle and cave in to your viewpoint. Two thousand yards won't do it, only an capitulation by those viewing from a values "standpoint". Only an admission of "you are right, my moral values are for sale just like you" will bring satisfaction. Bring a box lunch boys I ain't changin'. My decision on how I feel about this whacko has nothing to do with his production and the story is not finished. I wish him well as a human being and I certainly recognize how stubborn I am on this but at my age my values are not likely to change and they are not for sale. He quit on his team mates and is still a POS in my opinion. I can and will root for the number, but not the guy wearing it.

Amen!

People believe in things and then can change their minds. We all do. RW is doing a PR move by not publicly starting a war w/ the dearly departed and gone from the NFL forever Wanny. He is trying to choose a single reason to retiring last year instead of saying he could not play for a coach. He was going to retire after the year anyway. He was losing the desire to play football b/c of the poor aproach the team had. Chris Carter and others that came in(including Feeley) mentioned how confusing and disorganized the whole staff, practice the entire operation was.

He could have held out and demanded a trade or fire Wanny and everyone would be riding him like TO now. RW is more like Barry in that regard. Instead of ruffling feathers, walk away. He did what was best for RW,Miami, and the game of football.

It sucked, and we all were baffled. Ricky has never quit on his team during the season or in a camp for that matter. He has said he missed the game, he is passionate, and is going to try to move forward and be better than before. He is showing it in his work ethic that has already won his skeptical teammates over.

Let's all hope he finds that inner peace and someday maybe we will all have it to!

That whole reply was nothing but an assumption.

Oh give me a break............you don't even know the guy and you're coming to his defense giving reasoning for why he does what he does. Don't be hypocrite........

FINALLY... i couldn't agree more... i've never had hard feelings about Ricky, enjoyed him at Texas, and New Orleans, was ecstatic about him coming to Miami... this just makes me admire him more...

Says no to an idiot box reality TV show...

good for him... GOOD FOR HIM!!! ... good for him for not selling out to yet another soulless freak show that is "reality" television... they'd just wanna make a buck off his social anxiety problem anyhow...

i don't really care what anyone says ... Ricky's a lot smarter than anyone knows or thinks... blaming him for last year's debacle is assanine, ... Ricky saw the train wreck of a system and coaching staff far ahead of time, and he had an exit strategy... doing what HE wanted to do while young, and not be anyone's "boy"... it would be one thing if he was a mouthy punk, but he's not by any stretch... He's painfully honest, but kindhearted and never a braggart... Can't say that for 90% of the players in the NFL, who are either like T.O., or give cliche boring interviews... Ricky was the difference between 4-12 and 5-11 last year.... Certainly NOT the difference between 4-12 and 10-6... sorry... wasn't happening...

He just wants to play ball hard, contribute, and be left alone and do his thing... This crap about "oh, he could quit again at any time... he can't be trusted"... Well, at what sacrifice? So that he can be plunged straight ahead behind a turnstile offensive line 30 times a game? 40 times? 49 times (Bills)? With a whiffle-ball armed quarterback and a rookie, over-matched offensive coordinator? With a coach/GM with no real longterm plan who were running the franchise into the ground? ... That was last year...

Think of the worst job you ever had... Or the worst sports coach you ever played for?... Did you feel compelled to play for idiots? Work for idiots? When it got beyond bad, and your physical and/or mental well-being was truly at risk, did you stay?.... Why?... Life is too short... Love your country and your family... But not your company -- which (news flash for you workaholics) usually doesn't give a **** about you 'cept for results... And usually unrealistic results at that .... And when you meet or exceed those results, they only want you to do even more the next time around...

Ricky knows he's working for a man now that has it together... Saban is committed to winning, and has a clear strategy, and is honest with his players and exactly what he wants from them.... and I believe Ricky knows this.... Unless he's dealt for value (which he IS earning for himself this summer), Ricky isn't going anywhere...

Ricky may have inadvertantly wounded a lot of Dolphins fans, but that's their problem now...

I, for one, would like nothing better this season than for Ricky and Ronnie to lead the Dolphins deep into the playoffs... And lower a "truck stick" shoulder into all the loudmouths who ripped him for every exaggerated issue .... From the ganja to the "loyalty"...

I do hope those negative threads are still available... When he starts punishing defenders in October, I'll have some research to do to find them.....

That's exactly how I see it..The Prodigal son is home..
