Good for you, Ricky. Now think playoffs.

I think you have a better chance of winning powerball.......no hurry, go buy your tickets.

Why are you so negative. Sure one must have a realistic viewpoint about the upcoming season but you can't help but be excited about our chances. The division we play in, 10-6 could win it all. If all the cards fall our way we could be playing for a shot at that come week 13. All I ever see on your posts is negativity, what's the deal?

Dudes...

I wasn't saying that we shouldn't forgive him...heck no!!! I was saying we were the ones that need his forgiveness in a way. The guy walked away from something because of so many reasons...many of which most of us will never understand. But did that stop us from bashing the crap out of him. Nope. I said 90% because there wasn't a soul...NOT A SOUL...that backed ricky's decision publicly last year. If you say you did then I certainly didn't read it. I was on here all the time to read thread after thread about how he's so selfish and how he sold out his team and how he should die and all that crap that gets way blown out of proportion. NOW...

I was commenting on how everyone is just going back to how it was like nothing happened with comments like "I forgive him" and all that. Now lets just play ball. MY POINT WAS THIS...

WE ARE THE ONES WHO NEED TO BE FORGIVEN.

I know what forgiveness is and there was no semi-religous tone...I know what it means...but this is different. I totally forgive him and after the fact, with my 20/20 hingsight...I think it was a bold, calculated move that will probably end up making Ricky a stronger player...using more heart than ever. I mean he's not about the money if he's saying no to tons of it. $600K for shaving the locks?? Wow. But has ricky forgiven me for bashing him and wishing him ill-will? That's the point. If he rushes for 1000 yards...do we deserve this benefit after the scrutiny and sheer hatred that we gave him? Next time lets read my whole post before writing that i don't understand what you wrote. I did. My point is that I feel...not you neccessarily...ME...I FEEL like a hipocrite for cheering him on when I know in my heart that I was hating him a year ago. I want him to know that "I'm sorry too"...instead of him thinking that we all need an apology. Thanks for listening.

The guy walked away so he could smoke dope without having to be tested for it. It's that simple. Any other reasons people can come up with are nothing but rationalizations to diminish what he really did. He quit on his team for selfish reasons.

Also, I don't want to hear anything about his inner torment or his need to find his inner peace. I don't believe in any of that ****. This is why I'm going to absolutely hate my psychiatry rotation.

The guy has a biochemical imbalance going on in his brain, and he needs to take medication for it. He was on Paxil, and while he was on it, there were no problems. The problems didn't start till he decided to quit taking his Paxil. This isn't much different than Dimitrious Underwood and his manic depression. Medication works, but when he decided to quit taking it, he tried to kill himself.

...........actually no............I'm the "calm down, let's be realistic about this season" kind of guy. With the Ricky thing, I'm against it. That's just how it is.

............and that's what guys like Ricky Williams do.........they rationalize their bad decisions and manipulate those around them into buying into their reasoning, usually through very well thought out explanations and articulate speaking. Basically, the guy could sell you dirt......... lol

So what's a realistic projection for this team? Ricky coming back only helps this team. Now and in the future. Why are you so against it?

I forsee an 8-8 or 9-7 team, realistically.

I'm against Ricky for alot of reasons. Man I don't know where to begin, I've been defending my take on the subject for so long on this board now that I could go off into all the different tangents why.

Most notably, I'm against his return because it's under false impression that he wants to play again. He's merely using his skills to erase a debt, a debt which he caused on his own, thru child support issues and untimely and illegitamely quitting on a team which invested quite a bit into him to to make him feel like part of something different from when he had been ostricized over there in Naw'lins....... I also am offended at his attempts to dupe the media and fans as to why he quit football in the first place. The man came up with a 1001 reasons why. To his credit he did it convincingly, making people feel sorry for him when it was all his doing...........People like Ricky are good manipulators. They're very well spoken, very intelligent and are able to thoroughly provide explanations...........but deep down he knows they're just excuses.........

Ricky could have chosen a different route. Just like Terrell Owens could've taken better actions in getting his contract desires ironed out, Ricky Williams could've handled his situation, or dislike for, a better way. I don't care how much Wanny wanted to use him, Ricky is a player and can make choices, just like his sudden retirement. He could've held out. He could've been man enough to say no I won't be abused just like he was man enough to quit and go do his own thing.

I'm not denying the ability of the man to play football......... he just doesn't have the head for it anymore. In a team dominated sport, Ricky's trying to be the unique snowflake at all times, and it simply cannot be done in a football team's environment. I would've loved to see Ricky return to the Fins or football for that matter if he didn't have millions upon millions in debt hanging over his head.

Ultimately, I think he's a bad example. He's a nice guy, not purposely trying to hurt anybody, but at some point Ricky's got to man up and understand that yes he's his own man yet his actions do indeed affect those around him. He's too busy pointing fingers at the world and everybody else.

if you think it was solely about the dope, and the rest were "excuses"... well, you're already wrong, no matter how confident you're trying to be about being able to "figure out" Ricky Williams... So your argument loses much weight right off the bat...

I really don't think Ricky's trying to be anything... That's the whole point... He doesn't really give a chit what you, or anyone else on the outside thinks... "At all times..." And yet cynics insist they have it him all figured out and they will conjure up scenarios that fit their own slant on morality and ethics...

i'm sorry... when did Ricky openly blame any other individual for his decision?... I believe his first quote was "I just don't have it in me to play football right now." ... What more did you want him to do last year to "own up" or "be more of a man about it?" He said his heart wasn't in it, and he was honest about it...

Nothing would have ever made people like you happy, unless he just overcame all his "brain chemical" problems and went through the motions and be the whipping boy for a doomed franchise... Nothing...

Somehow i doubt you have a productive professional black athlete who has dreadlocks and is an education major all figured out.

There is no reason to worry or speculate about what the man is thinking. To me the whole thing is REALLY simple. We play Ricky, and if he is effective, we continue to play him. If he isn't, we don't. I really think that about covers it.;)
