So what's a realistic projection for this team? Ricky coming back only helps this team. Now and in the future. Why are you so against it?
I forsee an 8-8 or 9-7 team, realistically.
I'm against Ricky for alot of reasons. Man I don't know where to begin, I've been defending my take on the subject for so long on this board now that I could go off into all the different tangents why.
Most notably, I'm against his return because it's under false impression that he wants to play again. He's merely using his skills to erase a debt, a debt which he caused on his own, thru child support issues and untimely and illegitamely quitting on a team which invested quite a bit into him to to make him feel like part of something different from when he had been ostricized over there in Naw'lins....... I also am offended at his attempts to dupe the media and fans as to why he quit football in the first place. The man came up with a 1001 reasons why. To his credit he did it convincingly, making people feel sorry for him when it was all his doing...........People like Ricky are good manipulators. They're very well spoken, very intelligent and are able to thoroughly provide explanations...........but deep down he knows they're just excuses.........
Ricky could have chosen a different route. Just like Terrell Owens could've taken better actions in getting his contract desires ironed out, Ricky Williams could've handled his situation, or dislike for, a better way. I don't care how much Wanny wanted to use him, Ricky is a player and can make choices, just like his sudden retirement. He could've held out. He could've been man enough to say no I won't be abused just like he was man enough to quit and go do his own thing.
I'm not denying the ability of the man to play football......... he just doesn't have the head for it anymore. In a team dominated sport, Ricky's trying to be the unique snowflake at all times, and it simply cannot be done in a football team's environment. I would've loved to see Ricky return to the Fins or football for that matter if he didn't have millions upon millions in debt hanging over his head.
Ultimately, I think he's a bad example. He's a nice guy, not purposely trying to hurt anybody, but at some point Ricky's got to man up and understand that yes he's his own man yet his actions do indeed affect those around him. He's too busy pointing fingers at the world and everybody else.
