Grade Hickeys first draft and why?

any year for me where we don't have multiple outright punch a baby draft picks for me the way things have gone in the draft is a good one...i can say with confidence there's no punch a baby picks in hickeys 2014 class...

there is potential to replace some prior year bad picks though for sure...some guys that made the 53 and well frankly shouldn't

I'd say a C. Hind sight is 20/20. We picked up two second tier versatile offensive lineman who I think/hope will solidify the o-line. I think we could have dropped down and picked up a third while still picking J.J. I didn't think we needed to give up a 4th to pick up Turner. Landry reminds me of a slower Chris Chambers so I like that pick. Other guys I can't speak to. At the end of the day this was Hickey's first draft where he was the man. Hopefully he learns a few things.

"Punch a baby draft pick?" What the hell does that even mean???

D. Big reaches in first two rounds. Passing on Manziel when you don't have a franchise QB will haunt you for a decade. Hickey is Ireland 2.0 He takes low ceiling safe need picks. There won't be anything close to a star out of all of these picks. These are the type of drafts you expect out of N.E. who already has stars or SEA. But Mia needs butts in the seats and somebody with star potential. Looking at their roster it is the most vanilla team I can ever remember. Hopefully after you go 5-11 you will find a real GM and not your 5th choice and let him hire the coach like it should be. Then you better hope there is a franchise QB otherwise no matter what you do this farce will continue. For a franchise who doesn't have a QB it really is sad to see year after year them passing on them. Ryan 'Henne reboot' Tannehill has given zero indication that he is that guy. Until you get that guy you must at all costs take a QB especially when the best one in the draft miraculously falls to you. I feel so bad for my buddy and the rest of Fin fans. He is so apathetic now and it's a shame because he is a huge fan. Not fanboy apologists like you read on here.

manziel could very well be the next andrew leaf. Tannehill showed me something last year even with the offensive line in shambles he managed to have more touchdowns than interceptions. Tannehill might be a top 10 qb next year. James was a reach though i understand why the pick was made. You dont gamble with your qb getting killed when you have the best pass blocking tackle available. I give this draft a b- ..If ireland was not so bad hickey could have made a few more luxury picks.

I thnk you meant Ryan Leaf bro.

Agent the 1st 2 days it was a b plus,, but day three was a bit disappointing. There were a number of players that dropped in the 4th - dozier, Yankey, which would have at least added good backup prospects.

Lynch in 5 I can see why. Egnew I think is history, so he could be a decent backup to Clay, but not sure if he is a seam busting TE. Seastrunk to me could be a big hit in the league, and I am disappointed we passed over him. Tripp could push wheeler, but Seatrunk would replace Moreno next year.

Fede.....who? Yawin Smallwood at ILB makes more sense.

Granted the last 3 rounds in particular are a real lottery, but that dropped the b to a C.

I give him a D plus.

!- James took at career right tackle at 19 overall . At least a round early maybe two judging by where Moses was picked. Could be a solid player but to overlook better talent and not trading down is just a bad decision IMO.
2-Jarvis Landry I think he will be a good player for us , not a superstar. Only thing questionable is where he fits in and who will be gone from rotation.
3-Billy Turner- As a guard shows he is a solid prospect, he will never be a good Tackle in NFL IMO.
4- Aikens- All I can say is why. Would rather have taken Yankey over him or Turner. Better corners and players were still on the board.
5- Arther Lynch- Maybe my favorite pick. HAs good size and has shown abililty. Definitely a better pick than recent Te's Sims and Egnew.
6-Jordan Tripp- Produictive small school player but not sure how he will translate to pros. Definitely not a pass rusher at this level. Solid Risk pick though

Hazel and Fede practice squad at best.
Overdrafting James along with over reliance of small school sleepers does not make for a good draft.
The first rounder taking a guy like 20 picks too early makes a big indent on this grade as well as Aikens at 4
Landry and Lynch TE are two pixks I do like

solid B

Especially if Turner starts day 1. He won 3 str8 ships in div 1-AA @ NDSU, has bloodlines, proved beind from a small school didnt mean sh*t at the SB. One of the best moving linemen with a strong a punch I've seen in a while. Very experienced and confident. Not a doubt about his work ethic. Im more concerned about James' run blocking than this guy as a whole.

People forget we already have not only a playmaker, but probably our most exciting & consistent player in Clow42. A bunch of wr that do different things, but compliment eachother.

Main thing holding us back last yr was our o-line. They really crippled us AND the playbook. Yet, Tanehill still tossed twenty TDs. Imagine if the o-line comes together, along w/ play calling.....It would only be icing on the cake when Dion[yes] starts showing out. A potential pass rush MIA has is going to contend w/ leagues best. Last yr was evident.

W/ a good pass rush, you can pretty much get away with it. HOU, BAL even MIA have been doing it for years. Our line backing core and our secondary not named Grimes were a mess. Yet our defense was holding together til the last 2 weeks even though the offense just failed.

We already have a solid vet set to start at RB. I really think MIA is another STRONG draft away from being playoff bound for the foreseeable future

I mean on paper....we have no GLARING needs. Lets just see how it works out.

First pick right off the bat was a reach with much better talent still there. James may become a solid starter but as of now nobody knows.

I'm worried about Landry because of his speed. Might turn out to be a good slot WR but he better be a darn good one to be a 2nd Rd pick. Especially since we have a good slot WR already.

Billy is IMO our biggest reach. Even bigger than james. For a third rounder I'm seeing a lot of mocks having him in the 5th. The guy was from a small school and doesn't seem to be very good against actual talent. Been reading he had alot of trouble against speed rushers at the Senior bowl. Guessing he'll be playing RG. Need him to pan out.

Aikins again lacks speed and also played at a small school. I've been reading he lacks the ability to turn and run with fast receivers and is probably better suited to play strictly special teans. Pretty high for a special teamer.

The value of our picks just doesn't seem to be there. Seemed like every pick we made there were 2-3 guys I was hoping for other than who we picked. I'm hoping these guys come in and step up.

Really poor draft IMO

James was a huge reach.

Landry was a fifth round prospect IMO. Productive college player with a NFL qb and a first rounder on the other side drawing all the safeties. Slow and small.

We took a division i aa tackle in the third, moving up for him. He seems okay, but if we see him as a guard, why not take the talented center/guard prospect who has big time experience at the position instad of this guy who has never played the position and plays against crap guys week to week? Marcus Martin was a much better pick. Of course San Francisco picked him a few picks after us. They went talent instead of trying to go cute like Miami

I like the cb. The rest of these late round guys look horrible.

Again, the Dolphins picked too many OLD players. 24 year olds should not be picked in the NFL draft.
