Grade: Malik Willis

I'm encouraged. It was a great contract, let's start there. A bargain if he plays close to what we saw in Green Bay.

I think it's unfair to expect a 78 completion percentage and a quarterback rating of 130, although we could see a few games like that. Willis has always had a nice deep arm, and the athletic ability to make chunk plays with his legs. That's going to be exciting to watch.

I don't think it rules out drafting a quarterback in 2026, and in 2027. It also, perhaps, shows that Sullivan doesn't see a clear cut #1 overall quarterback in 2027. Remember, both Rodgers and Love were late 1st round picks.

I like the signing. I think TBD if he can stay on the field long term. He doesn't have any history of staying healthy a full season. Especially with his 6 foot 0.5 inch frame.

Considering the cost and the need I am giving the move a solid B.

I am not sure if Willis is legit but the price for Miami to find out was more than reasonable and I am willing to trust that Sullivan and Hafley know what they are getting.

The fact that the GM and HC know the kid well makes it much more palatable to me.

When you don't have a QB you have to take swings and I think this is a pretty good one.

Grade the player or the signing?

He doesn't have enough experience to grade him or the signing properly.

We really dont know how good or bad of a player he is.

I was against it because I wanted to go all in on the number 1 draft pick in 2027 and to not lock ourselves into a QB financially in the meantime. We are now locked into Willis for the next 2 years due to structure of the contract.

If I have to give a grade on how I feel the signing will go for us then I will give it a D.

I hate letter grades but for me this falls between a D and an F more because of the fact I got to eat $36 mil after 26 on him to get out. Had we been given a better one year out I might have felt a little better about it. Maybe. But that tua dead money and terrible contract from the get go screwed us.

Anytbing that hurts us in that 27 qb class I’m against. And this definitely hurts us.

$60 plus mil in dead money on qbs 2 straight years if it plays out that way is just 🥴

And if he sucks I damn sure don’t want to be stuck with him another year cause of the dead money hit we can’t absorb. Nor do I want him here as a 2 deep making over $20 mil which might have to be the 27 play I suppose at this point.

Frustrating. This damn team will age the **** out of ya.

I give the signing a B+ for us. He is uber talented and I trust the GM and HC to know if he was worth signing. Contract isn't too bad and better than expected.

I see why everyone wants us to just roll with Ewers in hopes of getting elite talent next year but here's my thought...Sayin, Manning, and Carr could potentially all return and be in the 2028 draft. Its more and more common especially with NIL some players get paid more to stay in school than being a 1st round pick. So why tank in hopes of something that isn't a guarantee? Half of all 1st round QBs fail every year anyways. I'd rather take Malik (which is still a gamble) with some proven NFL production and if it fails we try again. Nothing new as a Dolphins fan. If it works, we get to use our 1st round next year on an elite draft cycle at a need of position besides QB

If he can run forward in short down and distance situations instead of running backward and chucking the ball in the middle of the field that's a win.

As a HS teacher, giving a grade to a player I have not seen in my classroom would be like grading a student who either excelled or did poorly in another class. Irresponsible.
