Grades for Burnett and Moore

all i had to read is that the guy with more production in one year than Crowder had in a career gets a "C" .. and I stopped right there. That's the beauty or curse of electronic media - too much instant media gratification , not enough legitimate talent tends to assumptively validate any yokel's opinion.

Well it depends on what u mean by productioon if u mean sacks or int then maybe yes but zach thiomas was not a guy who got u much of those either and he was a damn good ilb. crowdwer had been a good linebacker for us until the last two years so i dont agree that Burnett was more productive unless u call being a dissapointing player for his whole time in Dallas productive. that being said it was time for Crowder to go he did not get it done the past two seasons.

Burnett also started more games lat year than he ever has and responded very well putting up great numbers. He was never a starter and racked up stats equal to Channing and better in alot of categories with only 3 or 4 starts a season.

He will keep a similar line IMO because he will continue to get a lot of playing time, though it may not be as good as last year having a handful of sacks being able to contain opponent TEs and complimenting Dansby is a hell of alot better than what Crowder has given us.

I think the grade may be fair because he doent have a great track record (though the more starts/time he gets the better he seems to do) coupled with who he replaced i think the grade should be boosted into the B range

Crowder had one solid season in 08. Thats it. He sucks.

The media is vastly overreacting to Henne still being our QB. Top 5 pick? Really? We haven't really lost any important players to our team that would make us drop off from last year's middle of the pack team.

So, should we assume he won't be good this upcoming season? Soliai hasn't been impressive apart from last season, so will he suck this season? Players have breakout seasons all the time and for the most part can carry that in future years. The fact is, Burnett has gotten better each year before having a big breakout season last year. Crowder's numbers have been dropping. Whether he is as good as he was last season remains to be seen, what we do know that he is an upgrade over Crowder. Isn't that what matters most?

well somne players break out and continue on and just as many dont so its a toss up what will happen. How many were touting Joe berger last season after he was viewed as being as effective as Grove and yet he sucked major balls last year.

Burnett hit stride once he got to SD in his 5th year and took it up a notch last season now that he's in his prime. How is this different than someone like James Harrison? This would be an excellent signing on its own merits - but getting rid of a guy who can't tackle peewees, and talks a better game than he plays is icing on the cake!

maybe they view it about how bad we were down the strecth losing to bad teams. Im pretty sure Carolina did not think they had the worst team in football last year in August and they returned a good defense and had some major weapons on offense, tthey also did not have a qb and had Matt Moore

Crowder improved each season up until his breakout season in 08, and nothing since. Some players they continue on, some players they dont.

Henne at his worst is still better than Clausen was last year.

Remains to be seen if they now have a QB or Jamarcus v2.0.

I wont disagree at this point but Clauson was a rookie and henne was not in the same position as a rookie. On that note the team benched Moore for Clauson so that doesnt speak well for Moore though.

I think in the end Clauson may end up being their qb for the long term have no faith in Newton. Teams somehow expect qb's to be studs a s rookies thx to the success of Flacco and Ryan and it usually is not the case. Im not even giving up on henne but to regress in your thrid year is nver good.

I honestly think getting rid of Ginn is what hurt Henne the most last year. We had 1 good receiver... and no fast receivers. No one could get open half the time. Our pretty poor rushing game didn't exactly help either.

don't disagree, and find it hard to believe Clausen plummeted from being the overwhelming #1 high school recruit (I actually saw him once play at powerhouse Oaks Christian in the rolling hills of Thousand Oaks) to now being considered a bust. He needs mentoring, but he's got a great pedigree (2 brothers decent college QBs), viable pro experience under Weis and is still verrrry young. Had he been waived, I'd have been ecstatic if we snatched him up. He needed to learn humility and gain maturity and I'd be surprised if last season's bumpy road and the drafting of Cam hasn't helped to center him.

I can't believe people are actually complaining that the Dolphins replaced Crowder with Burnett. Just shows that there is nothing the Dolphins can do that won't receive backlash. Unbelievable.
