anybody have any proof that Mike Greenberg and nyjunc are NOT the same guy?
Might hurt us too, there doesnt seem to be alot of respect going around the league for Ross & Ireland
Did Ryan Clark have an opinion on Ireland? Did Crowder? Fisher gave us his opinion on Ross, then Ross turned around and jabbed at Fisher for that("there was only one candidate that didnt want to coach the Dolphins"), at Philbins introductory presser, no less. Great timing.I really don't understand this attitude on this board about Ross and Ireland. We think these guys have such a bad rep around the league. Did Ross screw up with Sparano and Harbaugh? Sure. But what else is there? He gets bashed on this board for bringing in celebrities as co-owners, but I don't have much of a problem with the guy. And I don't think he has the rep around the league that you guys think he does. I may be wrong, I don't know. Chris Carter was on Sportscenter talking about Miami and he had a lot of nice things to say about Ross.
Ireland? What? He had the Dez Bryant's interview scandal, but what else? Everyone talking about Manning coming here, they say we have talent to surround him with on O, and a solid D. The team is improving. We won a good number of games after starting slow last year. You know who had a big hand in all of that? Ireland.
So where's the reason for the league to not respect Ross and Ireland?

How many of the pregame guys(former players and coaches) on all the networks wondered aloud why Ross was going after Harbaugh and leaving Sparano twisting in the wind. And wow, you quickly dismissed the Dez Bryant thing. It was a black eye to be sure and Ireland came off looking terrible.
I'm a Dolphins homer too, but Im not pretending everything has been hunky dory in Davie.
I'm not assuming people around the league think the same, I've given documented instances that prove it.Huh? I didn't dismiss anything. I brought it up. I'm not trying to debate each mistake that Ireland and Ross have, I just simply think that people on this board assume way too much in extrapolating Ireland's and Ross' reputation on this board and say that the league thinks the same.
And I'm not saying Ireland and Ross are perfect. But the product on the field will speak louder for the organization than Ireland's and Ross' reputation. And this is an up and coming team that Peyton could make an instant contender.
People questioning Ross, and especially Ireland, forget that the Dolphins are in the discussion for bringing in Peyton because of these guys.

The product on the field has spoken very loudly.
What? Neither of these 2 has done anything to prove that players, coaches or anyone else wants to come to Miami specifically to team up with them.
Maybe Fisher has a poor opinion of Ross, maybe not. But I dont think there's any question that Ross-s comments directed at Fisher during Philbin's presser were petty and childish. Lets add to that the Harbaugh debacle, Florida Gator day when the opposing starting QB was the most heralded Gator, the Henne comparison to Marino comments, and the recent articles by not one, but 2 newspapers, saying the Dolphins will not deal for RG3 because Fisher turned them down...add all of that and we have an owner that seemingly cannot get out of his own way, and has trouble seperating what is business and what is personal. You misunderstood. I said the Dolphins are in the discussion because the team has a good enough supporting cast to provide to Peyton Manning because of the roster that Ireland put together. If a roster that Ireland put together was known to be a poor roster do you think we'd be one of the hot spots that Manning would go to? It seems the media has us as the early favorite. It's known to have a good supporting cast, we just need a QB to tie it all together. That speaks to me more than a few biased Dolphin fans who have an ax to grind because they don't agree with Ireland's moves.
And how did Fisher give his opinion of Ross? By choosing St. Louis? They gave him the organizational control that Ross was unwilling to give. I don't see that as a way to see Fisher's opinion of Ross at all. And then you think Channing Crowder, a very cooky and much maligned player on this board (though I honestly don't agree with the hostility to him), and Ryan Clark, who simply decided to RETURN to the always contending Pittsburgh Steelers are ways to judge Ross' and Ireland's league reputation?

As far as Ireland, we've heard he negative comments. Add to that the fact that the Dolphins have put together 3 consecutive losing products on the field(while still not finding us a QB), and I doubt anyone would lose sleep over his firing. The guy is made of teflon, I cant imagine many inexperienced GM's that would still be employed following the four years he's managed to put together.
So like I said, people here have their opinions of Ross and Ireland. Let's not assume, which is what you are doing, you essentially admit that here, that that is his reputation in around the league. Hell, on this board alone you'll find people who don't care about Florida Gator day. And are you talking about how Ross hoped Henne would be the greatest QB in Dolphin history? Jeez. These are all things YOU don't agree with. You think Peyton will say, "Oh man, Ross hopes he has a QB that will surpass Marino... that owner is bad news..."? And Fisher turning down the Dolphins' offers for the #2 pick? Really? That speaks to Ross' league reputation?
What negative comments? And I don't blame Ireland for not finding a QB. It's no an easy job. And it takes a lot of things going right to provide the right circumstances where a team finds themselves in the right position to get a legit QB. I'm not going to turn this into coulda/woulda/shoulda discussion, but IMO, in Ireland's time here, there was no QB that we could realistically get, that would take us to the Super Bowl. And I'm not one who thinks they just need to commit to a good QB, they need to commit to a QB that they truly believe would get us to the Super Bowl. There hasn't be one.
