Greeny from mike n mike is a CLOWN!!!

yes the Jets went further than us... they had 2 consecutive good seasons.. yes we have owned them recently ( which to me is the next best thing after not winning a superbowl) but the reality is both teams failed at the ultimate goal.
I love Cotch but for this season mason is better, we replaced Braylon w/ Plax and we brought back holmes. Our WR corps will be really good. Shonn Greene will carry the load, we have a good group of RBs. What playmakers did we lose? I hate losing a long time Jet like Ellis but he wasn't going to play much anyway and NE badly overpaid, we lost a meaningless guy in jason Taylor. Our biggest loss was probably Ihedigbo moreso b/c he was a good STer.

If we have relatively good health it will be shocking if we miss the playoffs.
Honestly, how can you even rely on plaxico? hasnt played in 2 years.. the guy cant even practice at full speed yet? if your expecting him to be plax of old your going to be sadly dissapointed...

agreed,,,,I think the fact that they have so many new WR's, that familiarity (or lack thereof) may be a problem for as least the first few games. I saw on the gang green site that more than one Jests poster was weary of the same thing. Noting that baltimore prob. knew what they were doing letting him go.

JET's History

The history of the New York franchise in the American Football League is the story of two distinct organizations, the Titans and the Jets. Interlocking the two in continuity is the player personnel which went with the franchise in the ownership change from Harry Wismer to a five-man group headed by David "Sonny" Werblin in February 1963. The three-year reign of Wismer, who was granted a charter AFL franchise in 1959, was fraught with controversy. The on-the-field happenings of the Titans were often overlooked, even in victory, as Wismer moved from feud to feud with the thoughtlessness of one playing Russian roulette with all chambers loaded.

The 1968 season was the culmination of the New York AFL hopes as the Jets, under the guidance of Ewbank and the play of Namath, Don Maynard and a host of other major contributors, raced to the AFL East title with an 11-3 record. They defeated the Oakland Raiders 27-23 in the AFL championship and then stunned the entire sports world with a 16-7 victory over the overwhelmingly-favored Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. It is considered to be one of the two most pivotal games ever toward building fan enthusiasm for pro football. The Jets won the AFL East again in 1969 but lost to Kansas City in a first-round playoff game and did not seriously challenge for a divisional championship for 12 more seasons.

The next decade saw the Jets return to the playoffs five times in 1981, 1982, 1985, 1986 and 1991. Their high-water marks during those years came in 1982 and again in 1986, when they advanced past the first round of the playoffs. In the strike-shortened 1982 season, the Jets advanced to the AFC championship game, losing to Miami 14-0. Through it all, the Jets have maintained an excellent attendance record. They have not fallen below an average-per-game attendance of 54,051 since 1964, their first season in Shea Stadium. The Jets moved into the Meadowlands stadium across the Hudson River in New Jersey in 1984 and have sold out every one of their seats since.

Dolphin's History:

No pro football club in history ever advanced more quickly from the first-year dregs every expansion team faces to the ultimate achievement in its sport than the Miami Dolphins did in the six-year period between 1966 and 1972. In 1966, they began their pro football life as the ninth member of the American Football League. Six years later, Miami became the only National Football League team ever to record a perfect season. The 1972 Miami Dolphins won the AFC Eastern division and AFC championships and then defeated the Washington Redskins 14-7 in Super Bowl VII to complete an unblemished 17-0-0 record. The Dolphins, who were founded by Joseph Robbie, also got off to a perfect start in the first game of their first AFL season when running back Joe Auer returned the opening kickoff for a 95-yard touchdown against the Oakland Raiders. But the Miami team returned to reality even before the end of its first game. Oakland rallied to win and the Dolphins finished their first season with a 4-10 record.

George Wilson was the Dolphins' first coach. He finished his four-year AFL tenure after the 1969 season with a 15-39-2 record. But those were not wasted years for the Dolphins because they were steadily adding new talent -- quarterback Bob Griese in 1967, running back Larry Csonka in 1968 and guard Larry Little in 1969 -- that would eventually turn them into winners.

The transition from losing to winning came in just one season in 1970 when new coach Don Shula led the Dolphins to an AFC wild-card playoff berth with a 10-4 record. Miami then followed with three straight AFC championships in 1971, 1972 and 1973 and victories in Super Bowls VII and VIII. Their combined 1972-73 record was 32-2, also an all-time mark. From 1970 to 1974, their cumulative record was 65-15-1.

There is no telling what heights the Dolphins might have reached had not three of their finest stars, Csonka, Jim Kiick and Paul Warfield, defected to the rival World Football League after the 1974 season. Miami never again reached the world championship level the Dolphins attained in 1972 and 1973. But Shula, who in 1993 surpassed George Halas' record of 324 coaching victories to become the all-time leader, kept the Dolphins among the league's elite year after year.

You be the judge after reading about both franchises... Sorry, JET fans... Their is really no comparison

It amazes me how many threads start out about the phins and end up being about about the effing jests

yes, b/c I always run and hide when the dolphins beat the Jets. Do me a favor and look up my post history. Why would I hide if my team lost a game? I'll nevre get fans who are like that.

Obviously you go nowhere..with your 18,638 posts..on a message board of a team you don't even like.

Anyone else think it is pathetic that junc has to post here. Why isnt he over at gang green with his fellow pukes.

Anyone else think it's pathetic that posters who barely ever post here waste their precious few posts complaining about other posters?

Half the team will be in jail by mid season.... Rex will be going for gastric bypass. Dolphins def which will be better then the jets will keep us in contention for the division with New England. nyjunc will still be a clueless jet fan

Arrests since 2000:

Miami: 25
NY Jets: 8

Arrests since our current HCs took over:

Miami: 8
NY Jets: 1

I wouldn't calle 3 of 4, 4 of 5 owning as any of those losses easily could have been wins. owning is what we did to you guys from 1998-the first game of 2008 when we went 17-4 including 7 sweeps

The reality is the Jets are an elite franchise right now and Miami is fighting to get to our level. It could happen this year, anything can happen in this league but there has been a wide gap despite Miami beating us 3 of 4 times.

That's awseome, let me know when to fire up the Delorean so we can go back to the 70s and 80s but for most of the last 10+ years the Jets have been the better franchise. Miami certainly has the better history but it's not like they have Pitt or GB's history, one SB win and we tie you and we have been much better the last decade+.

Come on the jets have one division title... LoL

Actually 4 w/ just 2 AFC East titles but since 1995 both of us only have 2 div titles.

They previewed the bills this morning and greeny jumped all over the dolphins as soon as he had a chance...sayin we are a train wreck waitin to happen... What!? Miami got better I dont care what any expert says...it just makes me want to call in the show and tell Greeny, Miami vs Jets? Battle starts in trenches then Jets lose. They lost half their trench. They will not contend for the title, pretty funny if Jets fans want to believe they will make it further than last year...not even close.

He's right on the train wreck waiting to happen part....

I agree but at least this thread was about Mike Greenberg who is a Jets fan.

obviously, I mean being the only team to make the title game each of the last 2 years screams overrated.

I'm with Junc here. You guys like to argue about stuff that we as Dolphins fans don't have the upper hand in. Sometimes it's embarrassing.

Bottom line is this is a place for dolphin fans to talk about their team and as entertaining as it may be to argue back and forth with fans from other teams they should stick to their own teams sites..at least until the week we play each other
