IF something really does go down then Ireland needs to be gone too. He has gotten the benefit of the doubt too many times. Been around a long time, more often then not if they just replace a coach and the GM stays, it tends to really screw the pooch. If you look at most teams the GM is ultimately responsible for what transpired in regards to players. Lets face it, Ireland, Tuna and Tony were all tied at the hip and came in as a package deal. Tuna jumped overboard and left Ireland and Tony. Love Tony just saying if he is gone then Ireland needs to be gone too. For the GM I am sure they will wait until the end of the season.
I think there was a firm number put on Tony and I believe that number was 10 wins. No excuses, no way out, 10 wins is bottom line. With the atomic atmoshere now surrounding the Fans, media and team, Tony admitting he had no answers for whats going on helped push that timetable up. Several players openly admitting practices need to be different only added nails to the coffin.
0-4 at bye week and sadly I believe Tony is gone. 1-3 adn beat the Jets may make things different. 2-2 would do wonders not only for the team fans and Tony, it would put the owner in the better mood but if we go into the meadowlands and let the Jets put a beat down on us ? Well, things will probably happen in an execellerated manner.
Whatever happens it has to be done the right way, the correct way. Simply firing a HC is not only the answer. The new HC is going to bring in people he trusts and thats always not a good thing for anyone. Now, if the new HC happened to be one that creates a lot of Buzz, then yes, he may be able to find coaches to follow him here that believe in him.
Either way, I believe the new coach and GM are going to demand a QB switch if Henne does not improve this season. If a new interim coach is announced and if Henne slips more in a couple of games I can sincerely see Henne being benched for Moore. Not that Moore is that much or any better then Henne but change would be needed to lift spirits of fans and get the media off the Dolphins back so to speak.
The next two games are the most important not only for Tony but for Chad Henne. He needs to be accurate and on the ball. Crap, watching our so called no huddle offense last Sunday with him running it was painful. It was no quicker then if they had called a huddle. It was plain to see not much time was put into the matter of how to successfully run a no huddle offense in the previous weeks practice. These coaches appear to run something 3-4 times and have in their heads,
" Well, the players have that down pat " wrong.
