Greg Stoda's latest article...

Rich L said:
some quotes from the article:

"The Heat is compelling by sheer force of the personalities involved, from Pat Riley's stewardship as president to the on-court duo of Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade."

"Do the Dolphins have anyone with the scintillating star power to match any of the Heat's big three? And do the Dolphins have a player equal in talent to either O'Neal or Wade?"

This guy is no true sports fan. He is just complaining about a lack of personalitys on the team. Who cares. :shakeno:

you're exactly right...he's complaining about the lack of personalities on the team....I also think there is an underlying theme here....Stoda is pissed that Saban doesn't allow the media coverage of the fins that they've ( the media) had in the past.....

...I knew that the sports writers that cover the Phins would be harsh on Saban if the team didn't win right away because of the media "blackout" but Stoda has descided to be a trailblazer and start the slamming before we suit up for a regular season game.....

...also, you'll notice that even when he is making "good" comments about the NBA and MLB he's really slighting them as well.

great, another 2 minutes of my life, wasted. :nono:

I will miss those on my deathbed. :(

all I can say about this one is that it's highly likely that I will not be turning to Stoda's commentaries 1st thing in the morning.

While I expect writers to be critical of sports franchises (they make too much money to not be critical of them) his article only makes me think that he simply would be better off writing for the Arts & Leisure section. Does he even enjoy sports of any form? I think he's simply miscast in the sports section!

Something about the writers they hire in this area.
They all really seem to love to point out that the Phins franchise has fallen from it's pedestal. So be it, screw em.
I don't read any of the columnists down here. The Fins had one losing season last year and more than likely will have one more before they resume their winning ways IMO.

You can bet when they do that these same idiot writers will be kissing their arse when they start winning again.

The only thing I don't like is how he's saying Miami hasn't done anything in 30 years, yet then goes on and says how we'll have our first losing seasons back-to-back, since the franchise's infancy.

It's like he's hoping Miami does lose, saying if we win 3 games, fans will stop showing up. Well, we won four last year, and fans are still going to the games.

Not Stoda. And his Dolphin bashing existed long before Saban came around so it's not based solely on limited media access.

Seems to me he should be applauding Dolphin fan continued loyalty even after a losing season rather than criticizing it. But I guess as people have pointed out he is reflecting on this day and age of the fair weather fan and jumping on the current championship team bandwagon.

I did email Stoda's and basically I told him to get f@5k out of town. This guy his always down on the Dolphins, he really doesnt like nothing about Florida.

I don't know about anyone else but I tend to take everything written by our so called sport reporters with a grain of salt. Unless they are quoting someone I tend not believe a darn thing they are reporting.

It's a shame these guys have ruined their reputation the way they have. I'm not even sure they even understand just how many ppl distrust them.

He's just trying to generate controversy, since he doesn't have anything else to write about.:shakeno:

The ironic thing is that most successful teams try to squash the "look at me and how great I am mentality" of some of those athletes with personalities display.

Its about teamwork and putting the team first. New England has that attitude. I remember a guy named Shula tried to keep his guys humble.

Look at Philly and T.O. fiasco. Granted the guy has alot of talent. But his personallity is getting in the way of the team's success.

In the meantime the media eats up his flamboyant personality, while he is doing situps in his driveway, with helecopters flying overhead. It makes for a good story.

It becomes a circus... and thats bad news.
