Gruden signs 5yr extension with espn

doesn't Carl Peterson have ties with Cowher ? now it just seems more likely we will get Cowher.... also we don't know the deal there might be a out clause if he is offered a HC job or something.

Of course there is an out. Remember Jimmy was under contract to someone when the Fins got him.
This just drove his price up. Bet Cowher does the same thing for leverage.

You guys are delusional about Cowher. The guy is more done with coaching than Gruden is.

Best option we have now is Fisher, and then it doesn't get any better after him.

I believe Peterson hired Cowher in Kansas City. Peterson will likely be the voice that tries to sell the Dolphins job to Cowher. It is good to have someone on our side that he is familiar with when it comes to the interview process.

And him being pals with Danny boy does not hurt our chances.

The same Rob Ryan that couldn't stop New England's offense? great! let's screw ourselves and get him!

He did stop their offense IMO. Romo converting a turnover into a TD would have won the game for them.

Perhaps, but I think Cowher is one who can adapt. The Steelers offense did change a bit once they drafted a QB in the first round. I think he would hire an offensive coordinator that would help make the offense more explosive than a run first team. Ross wants an explosive offense, but he isn't going to not hire Cowher because he is a little more run based on offense than some other candidates. Perhaps Gruden is still the target, but I don't think Ross is going to just cross Cowher off the list. If it came to hiring Cowher or Billick, no question in my mind that he goes with Cowher.

I don't see it. Even with Roethlisberger, the highest the Steelers rated in pass attempts was 14th, and that was in Cowher's last year. Under Cowher with Roethlisberger, Pitt rated 32nd, 32nd, and 14th in passing attempts. IMO, running a few trick plays and being wide open on offense are two totally different things. In all but 6 seasons, Cowher's team ran the ball much more than they passed it.

I don't want Rob Ryan but holding New England to 20 points at home is pretty solid (borderline outstanding) defense. Their lowest point total at home before yesterday was 23 in an overtime win against Baltimore on Oct. 17th 2010. The last time they were held to 20 points at home was Dec. 13th 2009 against Carolina.

Of course Dallas had 2 weeks to get ready for the game but still the defense came to play.

Did you watch the game? They held Welker to 46 yards and the Pats to 20 points. They did a nice job against the Pats.

I don't think that is true at all. Cowher was putting feelers out last season. He will eventually make the jump back.

IMO here are the candidates:

1. Bill Cowher
2. Jeff Fisher
3. Bob Stoops

Jon gruden agrees to five year deal with espn

Looks like chucky is staying put......O well....
