A friend of mine thinks this is Ross's chance to finally get his Gruden / Cowher-Power he's been seeking. I'm sure with the possibly far-reaching stench of this mess, a "Known-Name" would have a whole lot more free-reign to change as much of the Dolphins facility and culture as they see fit, instead of having to work under Ireland and assimilate in. The position is finally lucrative since Ireland would likely be gone if heads roll.

We'll see.

On the other hand, I don't mind keeping Philbin. I believe he's innocent until proven guilty, and he's beaten good teams this year that we shouldn't have won against. The losses against the Bills and Ravens were largely Sherman's ineptness at playcalling, Ireland's shoddily built O-Line, Sturgis' slump, and injuries to the defense.
If Philbin man's up and sorts out these issues, I think he's a formidable NFL HC.

if it goes New Orleans like, then Philbin gets suspended rest of season and some next season.

Jimmy Johnson, Nick Saban, Bill Parcells, going after a name like Gruden or Cowher ensures nothing.

Gruden left Tampa in a mess.

Cowher hasn't coached in nearly a decade.

The Saints orchestrated a bounty system that was designed to injure players on purpose, ending careers. And they continued to do so AFTER the NFL warned them.

The Dolphins may have overlooked helping an individual who was bullied, accusations thus far that have been expressed by his representation in out of context voice mail and quotes.

We're talking about two very different offenses.

Correct. It's possible that the NFL may come down hard on the Dolphins, but comparing it to the Saints is a huge stretch at this point. The Saints directly defied Roger Goodell and then lied and tried to cover it up. It became personal there, no question about it.

Just to add to that Miami and more specifically Ross seeked out the NFL and Roger Goodell to help make sure a review and investigation is done right. There was no defiance here by the Miami Dolphin organization. Just full cooperation to find any problem and, as Philbin said, fix it.
