Her's a list of our guards/centers:
Vernon Carey
LJ Shelton
Rex Hadnot
Kendall Jacox
Toniu Fonoti
Seth Mckinney
Joe Toledo
Bennie Anderson

What are we going to do with all these guys?????????
Can we trade any of these guys???????????
Do you think any has value??????
What's the cap hit on some of the higher paid guys if we trade them?
Who do you think makes the team??
 
And I forgot Jeno James. I think he is the highest paid or is Shelton?

I could've sworn Shelton and Carey were tackles on our team.

Shelton, Fonoti, Anderson and Jacox are all possibilites to be cut and I doubt have any trade value

Jeno James, Toledo, Hadnot and Mckinney are probable holdovers
 
Out of the actual guards on that list (like people said Carey and Shelton can play guard, but mostly tackle) there really isn't a whole lot of talent there. I'm figuring we upgrade our guards through the off-season whether it be giving the money to Dielman or Dockery or drafting a guy like Ben Grubbs or Justin Blalock. Something has to be done to upgrade the interior of our line.

Fonoti and Jacox are UFA so they wouldn't get cut. I can't imagine bringing back "whiff" Anderson. Read in an article this week that Toledo is on crutches and a cast (not 100% sure about the cast), which would be a non-football related injury since he wasn't practicing due to previous injury. James is a possible cut or pay cut...I believe he is due to make $3.25 million. If I am not mistaken McKinney would be in line to receive a large bonus if he makes the roster this year ($2.5 million I think). There is definitely decisions to be made at the C/G position this off season.
 
Rex Hadnot is not a true center, he is a guard.
Seth Mc is injury prone. Seems like every year he gets hurt. Fonoti fights weight problems. Jacox and Anderson are just fill ins and don't seem to be more than back ups.
Our line needs a true center. Ryan Kalil from USC is considered a vocal leader. We might be able to get him in the 2nd rnd, another guy we could look at, his stock is rising, now rated as a 2-3 rnd prospect is Samson Satele from Hawaii. He can play all the positions on the offensive line, including long snapper, and he graded well at all of them.
 
Fonoti is a guy to watch to be very good if he keeps his weight down.

Think about it. RG and LG, generally you have two starters and a backup for each active. So thats four spots. I imagine the guys with higher salaries will either prove their worth or be cut, and the guys with small salaries will be retained as backups.

Toledo has a lot of potential if he can stay healthy to.

would you happen to have a link for the toledo story? i find that alarming that he would still be on crutches. I was hoping he would be competing this upcoming season.
 
Toledo couldn't stay healthy for four years in college so Saban wastes a 4th rd pick. ugh.

Other then Carey, everybody on the OL is replaceable.

id keep hadnot at RG....

i want joe thomas (PIPE DREAM) or hope levi is worth it at 9......

if either of these dont pan out, then we have to put Alabi in there.....

then sign either steinbach or dielman and the open spot has to be a draft pick

toledo is a waste....cut the rest of them....

lettin berger go was a mistake or bad gamble....
