Gurode contacts Dolphins

But the Dolphins have been making brief preliminary inquiries about the health/status of some available centers, though it remains to be seen if Miami will bring in any for visits.

Among the veteran free agents available: Dan Koppen, former Dolphin Samson Satele, Fernando Velasco, Brad Meester, Ryan Cook and David Baas.

He wasn't bad in Indy the last few years
I haven't seen much of him since he left Miami, but Satele was more of a zone blocking type than a man guy and we were running man blocking assignments back when he was here IIRC. So it certainly makes sense that he did better in a ZBS.

Hey i'm not an advocate for Samson but none of the others mentioned were much better. He was our center last time we won the division and has played in the playoffs with Indy so he can not be terrible ... maybe he is :idk:
I only watched the Colts when we played them and in the post season.

Apparently the coaches think we're better off with what we already have??!!
They always think that. And they're always dead wrong. I how philbin and hickey understand this is a devastating loss and if they don't replace Pouncey with similar production it will mean their jobs after the season

My first thought was: "DUHHH...you have to look for some experience at the postion." My second thought was: "See first thought"

It wouldn't hurt to take a look at him. He is on downside but he probably would be better than Garner or anybody else we just slide into center. Hell if he has anything left maybe play him at guard.
I wouldn't give anything above vet minimum.

Last year, Samson was #33 of 36 of NFL centers. He was above average on the run but, dead past in pass blocking.

every colt fan I know said satele was atrocious

Satale was horrible here....remember guys!? This man actually avoided blocks out on the field. How dare someone say bring this guy back. He deserved an Oscar for the acting he did here.

You must've been watching the wrong games, because Satele straight up sucked in Indy.

He most certainly did suck. Despite how much he and a couple of his fellow OL mates sucked in Indy last year however, their QB did not manage to take 58 sacks.

Andrew Luck and Chad Pennington. Those guys make playoffs happen. Blocking for those two fine QBs is much different than blocking for Ryan Tannehill.

I think they simply arent sure. I think they want to give the guys we currently have a bit of an opportunity. Once they become satisfied that none of them are capable of doing the job, they will bring someone in.

I think they will also start gathering info on what is out there, perhaps even bring some guys in for a look, and have a good idea of who they would want to sign if they feel its imperative to sign someone later on.

This is why we we are always watching the Patriots win the AFC East, while we stand around playing with ourselves.

or maybe the fact that they have one of the top 5 qb's to ever play the game and one of the best coach's ever. if anything, the billlichek is the best defensive mind the game has seen.

when brady is gone, the pats moves wont always seem so brilliant.

Yep, and in the 2nd half of the season he turned out to be our 2nd or 3rd best OL man.

and that right there tells you how bad the miami dolphins offensive line actually was.

when clabo is the one of the best on your line, your in BIG trouble. as we proved.

Satele.....HA!.....My best buddy is a Raiders fan...HE asked me about the trade and what I thought, and I told him;
Satale will get out into space, and, then, not hit anyone. He'll get out there, and, he's lost. Weak at the point of attack.

He laughed as he called me later, and all he said was "You were right."

Not knocking him as far less then he is, as I said he is a great QB. He was just on a team that was very well run with a defense that rarely made it tough on him...he also benefitted from one of the best pressure Kickers ever to play the game.

Brady is still a great QB, he is also one of the smartest QBs to play the game, and will be a HOF QB, but on being among the greatest to play the game...If allowed to take any QB in a game where the talent and coaching is equal, It would be many names, before I reached Brady...Sorry Just my opinion.
Who put the kicker in position to make those kicks?

Just a name to consider . Nothing more. If he's not better than what we have in house or there are better free agent choices available forget him.
