Gus and A.J press conf

 Someone please explain why Saban would defend Gus and come out and say that the rest of the offense is so far behind him and that is the reason for his poor play.If that is the case then the same excuse should go for AJ when he overthrows a reciever or they drop one of his passes.

Saban didn't say that the rest of the team was the only reason for Gus's poor performance...only a part of it...Both of these guys are back-ups so what's the big deal with who starts anyway? If you think that AJ Feeley is going to be a pro-bowl QB then you're out of your freakin' mind!

I keep hearing from Saban and Linehan that stats dont matter its all about showing improvement,if thats the case hasnt AJ shown a great deal of improvment and Gus with all of his knowledge of the offense seems to digressing

If Gus goes 13-21 and 250 yards and no Int's is that good enough? If not what is? what will the limit be for you and others that you will just surprisingly turn around and support Gus? My guess is nothing. Nothing will ever prove anything to you because people are so stuck on someone because they dont represent the kind of QB in the NFL that screams "hey look at my QB, we are so good!" whatever. It is what it is............Next year we get a QB. Thats all there is to it.

13-25 for 250 and 1-2 TDs would win me over. He'd have to do it consistently however. Because he hasn't and because he probably won't, I happen to pull for AJ. Considering AJ did not have Ricky during AJ's first start with the 1st string and he didn't have Boston either, and he had some major drops, I think AJ has done better this pre-season. So, until Gus has a few games as you described, then no, nothing will be good enough from him.

hey guys...question. I have not been able to see any of the interviews for a while on insider. I go to the announcemenys and interview section and find day 23 still. What can I do?

Gus actually believes that he didnt play that bad and seems to be very unhappy that he has not been named the dolphins starting quarterback. It also seems that saban is mad that he cant beat out A.J

i didn't get that feeling at all watching the video.

The fact that the QB competition is this close is a total indictment of Gus Frerotte. We are talking about a player who knows the offensive system and have known it FOR 2 YEARS vs. a guy who has only known if for a few months. He should have totally pulled away from Feeley by now and because
he has not, he does not deserv the job in my opinion. And I challeng anyone of you and coach Saban to convince me otherwise.

Just the opposite is true. Gus should have started out in the lead and by now AJ should have caught and passed Gus. That is not the case, and if anything he has distanced himself. Saban is just now realizing what the rest of us have known for awhile. Neither of them are starting caliber QBs.

You cant judge something that hasnt been fully put together yet. Your acting as if all this was all set up ahead of time and everybody knew exactly where to be. there is a thing called read and react. That takes the QB and the recievers being on the same page and reading it at the line of scrimmage. but I dont expect you to understand that.

But I say, go ahead and start Feeley and see what you get, Im sure you would see alot of the same stuff except more chances for INT's that get huge returns. Gus is trying to hit the recievers long. The recievers either arent there, or gus is overthrowing. I know all of you would like to assume that it all Gus, but I am almost sure that the Coaches know a hell of a lot more about whats going on than any of us.

just click on insider at the top of the page. watch the intro, then press enter. They are right there.

Well hopefully sometime in the near future we won't be having these ridiculous converstations about who should be starting or who shouldnt. Maybe someone in the front office or coaching staff will wake up and draft a Qb high or pick up a good one so that we have an acutal undisputed starting Qb going into training camp instead of this silly Qb situation that we have had since Marino left. I don't see any legit contenders having Qb problems going into training camp. Odd coincidence. I don't want to hear any crap about systems and ocoordinators or whatever convienent excuses the offense will be using this year. The players need to make plays or we need to get new players.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder what team some of you are watching.

i certainly cannot disagree with that. I think Saban was strapped with the QB deal this year and never really wanted Feeley to begin with. Thats just my guess based on what I am seeing from other Wannyspiel players who will see the door in the future. Gus was a stop gap who would come cheap and know the system. I am praying to god that Drew Brees will be ours next year but I tend to think that Rivers will be the guy out of SD.

Drafting a QB in the first rd doesn't guarantee success. Particularly the first yr.
Smith isn't starting and there is no guarantee Leinart or Jacobs won't be busts either.

That is true, trading a 2nd round pick for one didnt guarantee success either, but you have to scout well and roll the dice sometimes. Just because someone drafted a Ryan Leaf doesnt mean you pass up on a Qb early. You have to trust your scouting and you have to take chances. Picking up stopgap guys like Frerotte every year and waiting until next year every year isn't going to cut it. Next year the Qb situation has to be solved or Saban will never succeed.
