Gus' Bomb

haha infins.

too many unrealistic fans on this board think gus is going to lead us to 8 wins.

i hope we go 4-12 again so we get a nice top 5 pick.
How bout we go 12-4 and win the Super Bowl instead? Would you like that?

The only game I kinda wanted to lose was the SF game for the #1 draft pick, but I couldn't even bring myself to root for that loss...

After this week all of the Gus bashers will be on the Gus wagon...Wait and see.

The key to our offense is the offensive line. The QBs we have are innefectual facing constant pressure. If you want Gus to be accurate we need to give him time. Either that or Linehan needs to have a gameplan of slants and dump offs. Linehan needs to prove he understands our talent level. There is a chance that as the season progresses so will our offensive line. We could be alright this year but it wont be at the beginning of the season. We are still trying to jell. Once the line gets to some acceptable level of play we can start to debate our QB play

The timing and accuracy will work themselves out as the season progresses.

Even if he's overthrowing on the long ball, he can at least get it there physically. He's a smart guy, and I'm sure he can adjust his passes once he gets a feel for the receivers. How many times in the past five seasons have you seen a Miami QB even ABLE to overthrow on a pass like that? Most of Fiedler's ended up ten yards short and intercepted. Unlike that garbage, this is something we can fix.

As long as the overthrows are not intercepted and returned for touchdowns, I'm OK.

4-12 frikking knucklehead

Who can want a team to go 4-12 and call themselves a fan? You sir are a knucklehead. Yeah the Dolphins were lousy last year but I suffered through every loss rooting for them. The payoff was the New England game. It's kind of like being a hacker on the golf course; it only takes one good shot to bring you back. In a season of perpetual despair beating New England was the good shot that brings you back with a smile on your face. I see good things for this ball club and the Wanny & Jimmy era fading into dim memory. Dum spiro spero.

Hey Zed...Visit Boulder Creek much?...I have friends there.

I rooted for us to lose every game last year until Wanny got fired... my biggest fear was a 9 or 10 win season, just enough to keep him.

Do you now hate me too?
I gotta admit, after loss number four, I was pretty much hoping for a win, but I knew it wasn't going to happen, so I kinda hoped we would lose enough to get wanny fired to, but only after it was completely obvious that we were going nowhere but the 1st pick of the draft. (yes, I know we got the second pick, but you wouldn't have guessed that part after 4 games...)

We saw him launch it a bit during preseason, but without great accuracy.

Is that actually the case or were the receivers missing the beat?

What I'm asking is, is this a lack of experience with the receiving corps or is Gus not accurate on the deep bomb?

I know I watched him hit Randy on a bunch, but Janikowski could hit him on a deep route.

I just want these big gamebreaking plays and I'm hoping somebody can say, "yeah, its just that he needs some time getting comfortable with the speed and route running of his receivers".

And I guarantee that if I didn't write this line right here, that quote would have been one of the first few posts verbatim.

His accuracy has always been his weakest attribute. That's where he needs to be more consistent. But he's generally done pretty well on the deep ball. He definetly has the recievers to hit deep. With Chambers and Boston (and Welker occasionally in the slot) we have the speed to burn the DBs deep. The QB and the recievers need to be on the same page and the QB can't waste the opportunities when we do go deep.
Which makes me think: Look how many times we were OPEN deep in the preseason. Just think if our guys can get deep that consistently and we start hitting them. YIKES!! Talk about stretching the field. There is certainly some serious potential there.

Frerotte has only completed 54% of his passes in his career. In 2 of his 3 seasons as a starter, he completed less than 51% of his passes. In general, he's not an accurate passer. So don't hold your breath that suddenly he's going to become one.

WYSIWYG...You can't hide that...Now, he may connect on one with increased familiarity with the WRs, but Gus is Gus...that is all he can give us...
