Exactly. The start of the season could be very brutal for Gus unless the line really steps it up. He may need till after the bye week to get used to how little time he's going to have. What worried me is the fact that it seems we have the deep passing game in place for the Broncos. To throw deep you need extra good protection. With our line we should probably be running slants, quick hitters and dumpoffs with an occasional play action deep pass just to keep the defense honest. It seems Saban and Linehan are putting alot of faith in our line. Hopefully its not wishful thinking

So you play conservative to the point where the opposition can blitz the poop out of you. Makes perfect sense. :shakeno:

The OL will just have to hold up. Gus will just have to be aware enough to throw the ball away on those deep passes if it isnt there right away. You cant play the game within a 15 yard range every game and expect to win. Every tip or ball you attempt to throw will have a shot at beig picked if you allow all the defenders to stay so close to the line.

Yeah, OK, but I just can't help but be annoyed that 1. it seems like the job was really given to him when he got here, and 2. Starting him cannot possibly be our long term solution, which makes it more of the problem.
