Let's start with an obvious one...Phillip Livas. This guy showed explosion on punt and kick returns. While he is a tiny guy, just think of the kind of impact he could have in our games. The field position battle is one of the most important aspects to success, and with Livas I think we have many more positives than negatives.
Matt Moore. I think he earned himself some first team reps. While he was playing against backups, he showed that he can get out of the pocket and that he can place passes at the right time. He also showed us that he does have some arm strength. I was telling my dad when he came in that he throws like a cupcake, and I was genuinely surprised to see that he had some zip on those passes. I think Moore is a level headed guy that if he learned the offense well enough, could play some good football for us.
Benny Sapp. Give Sapp all the **** you want, but he looked pretty good last night. He showed great timing with his pass breakup, and the very next play he jumped a route and picked off a pass. If he continues to play like that, I will have no issue with him being our nickel corner.
Roberto Wallace. Who knows if his touchdown was just a blown coverage or if he can get open like that on a consistent basis, but Wallace showed me enough last night to kick Marlon Moore to the curb. With his size and speed, he could potentially be a good receiver down the road.
Jimmy Wilson. After an early pass interference call, he made amends quickly and had some nice pressure and a great sack/forced fumble. He certainly looked like he could compete for a nickel or a dime role right now. It is too early to tell how he would do at safety, but look for him there as well.
Chris Clemons. Many have said that Reshad Jones should start over Clemons, but what I saw last night was a guy that added size in the offseason and a guy that was more consistent. I got pissed last season because he would tackle high and miss tackles. He made some nice timing plays last night with his blitz (where he wrecked JP Wilson) and on a pass in the end zone where he smacked a guy as well.
Nic Grigsby. I want this kid to seize this opportunity. I didn't see much from Hilliard or Sheets that showed they should make this team. I hope Grigsby does enough in the upcoming games to get a roster spot.
Chad Henne. I know I have Matt Moore up at the top, but I want to see both of these guys do well. Henne took more risks last night, which he should have only had one interception because a pass bounced right off of Fasano's hands. I liked the long pass to Hartline, and didn't like the pass into coverage to Bess that got intercepted (where Bess supposedly ran the wrong route)
