Guys that Impressed Under The Radar

ehh...i wasn't all that impressed with any of those guys...i liked edmond gates who's already what ted ginn was supposed to be...aj edds looks to me like a guy who will play in the league for 5 years or so but right now he's not a difference maker...yeah he makes tackles but he doesn't show me wow plays...not yet at least...phil livas thats what we need ait punt returner make the first guy miss and get north and south...that kids explosive...if he can hold onto the ball and i keep seeing that from him he's on my 53 and my punt returner period

dissappointed that nolan carroll still doesn't trust what he sees...still gives guys too much space to operate with...great tools but doesn't trust them...lou polite your in serious trouble with this new offense

and i have to say just for what i saw this offense has promise...the 3 plus wr sets etc were a prayer answered...no more 8 on the los and i formation crap...i don't know that we have the qb to execute it and the oline can protect for it but its nice to see something modern in the damn playbook

I thought about both of those options, but as far as end arounds go, it might end up being a little bit obvious when he comes in what we're looking to do if he's not involved in any other packages and isn't a threat as a pass catcher. Not sure how I see him fitting into the Wildcat.

Agreed. Just giving a couple of examples that he *may* be able to thrive in.

I know he scored a TD but Livas would have to show more to get the spot IMO. He went down pretty easy on all of his other chances. It's tough to give him a roster spot just for PRs. The crazy thing is not to have Reggie Bush handling punt returns. I thought that was why we got him.

After only one game he looks WAAAAAAAY better than Bess on returns. He is quick and very fast and seems to be able to find holes. That alone should get him on the team. Id rather keep Livas returning punts than keep moore at WR.

Most definitely. Livas went down easy on a few of those, but that's partially because he couldn't keep his feet, if he keeps his feet he's going to pick up some yardage. Also, I'll take him falling down 3 times for a TD on the 4th.

Obviously Livas with the return, Edds, Grigsby also looked good. Odrick looked Strong!

He also let alot (alot) of plays get behind him. But I did like how he was ALWAYS around the ball. I didnt see the stat sheet but I have to assume he had around 8 -10 tackles.

Interesting. This was the exact reason people were hating on Crowder. It's good if it's Edds though...

Yeah I forgot about Odrick, I didn't see too much of him, but what I saw I liked. I kind of hope he lives up to his first round billing...but at the same time, we're so stacked at that position it really won't matter. Langford and Starks are both potential Pro Bowlers....

Wasn't trying to argue, just further the discussion.

Oh, definitely. Wasn't trying to argue either. I just hope he keeps it up. We've been missing a dynamic punt returner for a bit now, in my opinion.

His job could be in jeopardy. If Livas proves to be a capable returner and Jimmy Wilson continues to play the way he did tonight, Nolan Carrol could be on his way out. Even Benny Sapp looked pretty decent tonight, and other than his stupid facemask penalty, Nate Ness didn't play bad either.

come one man...they're not cutting carroll...not when he's one of the few guys they have that can play the boundary...

He seems like he could be a good candidate for end-arounds and ... dare I say it ... the wildcat...

Well Sheets didn't really impress me tonight so I don't think he's gonna be a candidate. And I will qualify that by saying that I understand the run blocking was terrible most of the time, but when Sheets was in space he didn't make all that good of cuts and didn't have the burst that I was expecting after all that I had heard about from him.

I think he is safe, I think Will Allen is in trouble. Nate Ness was hit and miss all night. Carroll didn't have a great night but he is far ahead of Ness at this point. Sapp is the nickel and I think he did alot to calm that mythological hatred that he seems to have on this board.

Davis/Smith/Sapp/Carroll/Ness
Bell/Clemmons/Jones/Wilson/Culver

Probably your 10 DB's . . . . with Will Allen's knee on the fritz . . . if Allen is healthy, then I think Ness doesn't make it.

Odrick had some serious penetration and broke up several plays tonight. I don't know how you didn't notice him.

Listened to the game on the radio - been reading up on camp since the season opened and it doesn't seem that Nolan is doing what he needs to do to make the team. He seems like just another guy. I think he got way to much love on this site last year. Hope he can do more to flash, but right now, the kid is in trouble if Livas keeps balling and we keep Will Allen.
