Guys that Impressed Under The Radar

AJ Edds. Made some nice tackles, had a nice sack. He looked pretty solid for me, and I hope he stays healthy.

I saw what they we're saying coming out of the draft about his coverage abilities. On a few plays I saw he was absolutely smothering RB's and TE's.

i saw no ground and pound mindset tonight...it was refreshing not to...but the qb...yeah i'm worried that he can execute this offense at a high level

i can see these guys going back to the orton well here...

I saw it. About 85% of the runs were straight up the middle. We should have taken Orton when we had the chance. NOw that he is the clear cut starter, Denvers asking price is going to go up. Ireland definitely screwed the pooch with that one.

wilson is a great oncologist, a great safety and a great american. they cut him i will boycott the season.

Incognito gets zero push and can't pull

i think folks are either forgeting or just plain ignoring the fact that incognito graded out second on the teams o-line right after jake long. he was also in the top 6 guards graded in the nfl.

plus, he has big value at center [where he should be playing].

now, i know ritchie seems to be an undesirable personality, but, his play doesnt deserve the the same reputation.

it IS pre season, the first, and the vets just want out. plus, we have a coach who gives them that mentality by telling them, we dont care, no plan, lets see some rookies, just a walk through practice,etc.......

i think by the time this is over, it will be long, pouncy, incognito, whoever, cary. which is right because incognito looked pretty damned natural at center and pouncy realy neads to play guard for a year to get his nfl legs.

but tony has a way of tinkering untill the last moment which hurts the lines consistancy, stunting its growth and making them gell under fire. not good. it appears tony still hasnt learned anything from his many mistakes.

but all in all, i dont think the line will be as bad as it looked against the falcons. getting columbo off this team is a must and i fear a guy like livas will pay the price so tony can have his pal with him this year.

NOTE TO ALL: this biz about how good a line we had in 2009 is a complete FARCE!! we sprang the wildcat on everyone and untill the saints figured out the cat to stopping it, it was the sceme that was the star, not the line. after the saints, the cat was figured out and our line was back to mediocre once again, the exclamation point being put on by the ravens. before the wildcat was established, we were 0-3 and looking like another 1-15 team. we couldnt run to save our souls and the line was pathetic, run and pass.

2009 was the same as all the other years with the line. tony sparano so far has shown to be ANYTHING but a line guru!!

Maybe Incognito is better (graded) than I thought but I can just go off what I see and that ZERO push up the middle - maybe that's Pouncey and Carey's fault too.

I think you're right that Pouncey should start off at LG for now - not center. He's got enough to deal with changing to the NFL level and we've already had camp reports of bad shotgun snaps.

And yeah - Carey should probably go back to RT but someone else who watched the game tape 3 times already said he looked good at RT.

Maybe Long-Pouncey-Incognito-Carey-Willis would be out best line? Wasn't Willis a pretty good RT?

ACTUALLY.............

i forgot about murtha. it could, and probably should be:

LONG, POUNCY, INCOGNITO, CARY, MURTHA.

but whatever, whoever, get them in and starting and get the reps in camp an the games. figure out who to keep and who to cut and let a line start to gell. we dont have a full offseason so its important to get one established and working.

THEY TRIED!! it never got past orton and his agent. this is NOT irelands fault at all. he never even got the chance to meet with the broncos. orton is the one who held this up. he wanted to force the broncos hand and show them that he was worth the money they owed him coming up for the season AND that tebow was not up to being his succesor.

so far he has proved both right.

THIS IS NOT IRELANDS FAULT!!!!

nope, last year was the first time he ever started 16 games. In fact, Pete Carroll has rebuilt the entire Seattle OL, and they basically have 4 new starters on the OL with Robert Gallery, Max Unger (moving from Guard to Center, and missed last year anyways), and rookies Jon Moffit and James Carpenter.

Jimmy Wilson, Livas, Gates and Benny Sapp. I really don't understand the over played criticism Sapp gets in here. He's very valuable in the nickel.

I don't know much about Wilson but I really like him.

Youre obviously a Chowder lover, but anyways, Ok.. Well we dont know if Edds is Chowder part 2 yet do we??? And if he is, he needs ot be replaced, and sooner than Chowder was.. But that we will not know till, year three.

I'm indifferent to Crowder. Just pointing out the double standard...

well with Edds he was drafted to be the nickle LB on third downs due to his ability in coverage, and that's his role right now. Maybe he'll develop into something more. Crowder (who I liked) just didn't make plays. He was an ok starter, but he just didn't do anything of value.

Yeah, I'm aware that they are different types of players. But the poster said that Edds kept letting plays get behind him, but he was always around the ball and that it was a good thing. It's a good thing for Edds, but Crowder get's blasted for the same thing? What the **** is that...?

Getting ready to watch the Dolphins on the NFL channel right now. Just wanted to thank those that pointed out a few people who they believed stood out. I'll be paying close attention to those. Especially this kid Gates who's been getting a lot of hype on this board.

nah...ground and pound is 2 te's or 2 wrs and line up in the i and continuously run between the tackles... yeah we ran the ball inside which i think with a lot of the backs was just to see if they could run inside at this level more than anything but we showed a lot of single back sets and 3 wr formations or offset i with clay at fb and ran out of them...no real results but definitely not just ground and pound...

not to mention we don't really have the power downhill backs to run ground and pound...we featured a bunch of scat backs yesterday at least...little run for thomas or hilliard
