Guys that Impressed Under The Radar

I liked what I saw from Murtha. Maybe......

Long-Pouncey -O'Hara-Carey-Murtha

We can't start Incognito - he's awful.

I think he is out of position at LG, and could see him being more effective at RG, but by all means upgrade him if you have the upgrade.

I think Murtha gives us some kind of depth at tackle, along with Garner. I'm cool with that, but you may be right, Murtha could be in the running at RT. Thank goodness because Colombo is meh IMO.

I thought Grigsby looked okay. Better than Sheets at least. But the blocking was bad all around. That toss to Grigsby late in the 4th could have easily been a double digit yard pickup but his blockers just disappeared in front of him. Time to work your O Line voodoo Tony S (this means that he'll sign Vernon Davis tomorrow).

Yes, Grisby looked the best out of all the RB's. He looks like he has pretty good speed. Sheets looked pretty bad. For all the speed he is clamored with I think he should have had at least one run over 10 yards.. I think you mean Leonard Davis? Vernon Davis, I wish!

i don't think your gonna see much of a lead blocker in this offense other than short yardage...i think we're gonna try and spread people out and go single back a lot and by spreading out the lbs etc or taking them off the field with all the high number wr sets we're gonna create natural running lanes for the backs...i don't think vision is gonna play much into it til guys get to the 2nd level...its gonna be see the gap hit the gap...make one cut and get downhill

tonight none of the rbs impressed me much...but this o i don't think we're gonna need elite rbs...good thing too...

If the offense is a spread them out style, then Reggie Bush and Nic Grigsby are ready made for it as quick guys who hit holes hard, are dangerous in space and can catch out of the backfield. Makes me a little curious to see how they intend to use Daniel Thomas.

I totally do mean Leonard Davis.

i don't know why we think we can run grigsby inside in the nfl...i hope tonight was just testing that...cause it will never work...that kid needs space to operate in

Not only Grigsby but Sheets too. Seemed like 85% of the runs were to the inside. Great place to run when our weakness on the OL last year was the inside. and the only upgrade to the inside was RG.

i think when long comes back murtha goes to right tackle...right now they're just seeing how murtha fares if we lost long or needed him in a pinch over there...the reps will help him on the right side...but who knows sparano may be in love with colombo...who once the real bullets start flying is gonna get attacked to no end

I was disappointed with Sheets. I felt like he kept trying to do too much instead of putting his head down and taking what was there.

preseason...lets hope these guys know better when the games that matter start then to run bush and grigsby into the middle of the line repeatedly...

I agree, I think it had more to do with being conservative with the playbook rather than thinking that Sheets and Grigs could actually do serious damage between the tackles.

Jerry got a holding penalty, that depressed me. Oh yeah, you said impressed ...so forget the O-Line getting schooled.

i do have to say though that the offensive sets had me very intrigued about what we're gonna do...just the little bitwe showed told me there's an awful lot that we can do as far as putting guys in motion to get off of coverage and motioning guys out of the backfield...but can we protect the qb with so many empty backfield looks and 5 man protections...dicey

brian daboll don't go backwards now

You mean the coaches or the RB's? HIghly unlikely the coaches learn form their mistakes... Well Saporno anyways.

See thats the only problem.. The running game is Sapornos whole philosophy and running inside the tackles is a majority of that philosophy.. that ground and pound.. Thomas is our ground and pound back and he couldn't do anything with this OL against the starting DL. Saporno may have said he wasnt gameplanning for this game, but IMO that was him just trying to save his *** if we didnt do anything. IMO we knew what we wanted to do (running Sapornos offense) and it didnt work.. Now what?

i saw no ground and pound mindset tonight...it was refreshing not to...but the qb...yeah i'm worried that he can execute this offense at a high level

i can see these guys going back to the orton well here...

While i didn't see the game, it was clear from the blogs and live look in's, the O-line was having problems ... i also saw a play where Vontae Davis got schooled on a crossing rout by Julio Jones, that left Davis trailing 5 yards behind him!!! the only positive i saw from the 1st team defense was the 1st series, and it went downhill from there ... the depth of this team showed up and basically won the game for Miami ... it did seem like Edds and Wilson shined on defense and Wallace shined on offense as well as Matt Moore ... I'm hoping this was, just getting the kinks out on the offense, because it sure looked a mess thanks to the play of the O-line ... and i agree Orton would be a big upgrade over Henne in this offense ... I also felt that Murtha showed enough where the team could be comfortable with him as a starting RT or Backup swing tackle ...

Yea the Falcons set a pick . . . meh, Atlanta came in with a clear focus to show off Julio Jones. They were playing at home and wanted to excite their fans. They gameplanned a bit in that first quarter. Not worried in the least bit to be honest with you.
