What "occasional" soccer games are you speaking of?

And in 2 weeks, when we host the Raiders, the Hurricanes will have ripped it up again the night before during their game. Can't we figure out a schedule that doesn't include a college game and a professional game on the same field within 24 hours.
Thought we had a retractable roof?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amsterdam_ArenaThe stadium combines a retractable roof with a grass surface. This caused some problems in the beginning: the grass rolls would not grow in the shade of the open roof and had to be replaced up to four times a year.
Shortly after the opening, it turned out that the stadium design had not accounted for good grass growing conditions, and as a result the pitch had to get renewed up to 5 times a year. These problems were later resolved with the installation of innovative grass growing technology, consisting of a combination of lamps, wind turbines, and water sprinklers.
...As from this week, the Amsterdam ArenA football field is officially ISO certified in accordance with the internationally recognized ISO standard 9001:2008. The Amsterdam ArenA - the home ground of Ajax and the largest stadium in The Netherlands - is the first stadium in the world to be awarded the ISO certificate for its football pitch.

As part of the quality management system, the Amsterdam ArenA continually monitors the quality of the grass pitch, applying advanced methods and specialized equipment. This involves measurements at regular intervals at nineteen predefined locations in the field, of factors such as shock absorption, energy restitution, soil temperature, soil moisture in the root zone and compression of the top layer. In addition, these tests measure, for instance, the length of the grass, ball roll, ball rebound, rotation resistance and root composition. The results of these tests are compared to the ‘standard’ the ArenA has set for itself. At present, natural grass is not yet subject to objectified quality standards. Any deviations that are observed relative to the ArenA standard will allow the groundsmen responsible for field maintenance to take targeted corrective action.
