Hard to think Bills won't be better than Miami in 2014

The BIlls DL was DOMINATE!!
The Fins DL with OV - WAKE - STARKS - SOLIAI - ODRICK and JORDAN should play like the BIlls!!!!
they were aggressive, fast, in your face, hit the QB, plowed the Line every play!!!

the Bills won the LOS -- won the game

Sorry but reallity is only Wake is on that level. Odrick and Vernon are good but Soliai and Starks are becoming liabilities.

The only thing we need is better OL all around, and some better lb's would help a ton. The Bills aren't terrible but there's no reason to think we can't compete with them in the future. In the next 5 or so years I think we and the Bills wil be the ones fighting for the division

Their coach is legit and they have some premier talent at key positions. Also a good personnel department. I certainly wouldn't discount them.

Two of the most dominant efforts I saw all season were Buffalo hosting Kansas City and the Dolphins. They blew the Chiefs game due to turnovers and poor quarterbacking but anyone who saw that game knew the components were there and that type of effort would show up again. Unfortunately, it was against us.

Manuel had weak numbers this year. But he looked like a pro quarterback out there, with more touch and field presence than he displayed at Florida State.

I only saw a few of their games but Manuel looked decent to me, great final drive to beat the Panthers at the buzzer.

All the Bills need is a QB.

Everything else just look at it:

1. WRs -- They have 4 talented WRs -- Every one which is three steps faster than Hartline and Matthews. Most more physical, too.
2. TEs -- Again, 2 TEs that are more threats than Clay.
3. RBs -- Two starting backs better than Thomas/Miller (not if Miami would have kept Bush, though).
4. OL -- As a unit, way more talented than Miami's.
5. DL -- Again, more talented than arguably Miami's most deep position.
6. LB -- Solid. Better against run, and not as weak as Miami's re: the pass.
7. KR/PR -- Threats. Each and every one. Ten times more talented than Thigpen.

The only position where Miami is clearly better is QB. And in CBs, potentially. And Safety -- again, toss up.

If Buffalo gets real QB, look out. They only have to majorly improve one position (QB) in order to dominate.

Miami would have to improve at least 5 positions in order to reach that level of talent.

If Buffalo gets a real QB?! Yes because they grow on trees.

Who cares about 2014! It's 2013 and it's the final week and we can get into the playoffs!

You think this team is gonna sit on their butt all offseason or something?

Last year, Clay was just a unreliable backup TE and Rishard Matthews preseason fodder. Now?

A lot can happen in an offseason, projecting who will theoretically be better in 9 months is silly and pointless right now.

I stopped reading when you said their TE's are better than Clay. They are better in some spots true but not at TE.

Clay is versatile and a tough-nosed player, but he is limited. His ceiling isn't very high. He has a place on a team (most any NFL team, not just the Phins) but he's not a real threat.

Generally, the fewer holes you have to fix, the better off you are.

However, QB is the hardest to fix, imo. Unless you happen to have a Pennington drop into your lap.

Clay has over 700 yards and 6 TD's without having any other TE do anything. IMO Clay would be having a bigger year if our OL could block for the QB to throw the ball. Clay has poured it on and is having a near pro bowl season. And he is only 3 years in the league. Certainly he can get better.

Well, we'll see. I certainly would like it if he has a higher ceiling than currently can be seen. Don't get me wrong, I like the way he's played this year, overall. He's shown good heart and toughness on limited talent, imo. And a smart player. He'd be a good number 2 or 3 TE, imo.

Saying "all the Bills need is a QB" is kind of a big thing to leave out. Also, Marrone is going to can or trade some of the vets from Chan and Nix. I could see Stevie Johnson cut and C.J. Spiller traded before his contract is up.

I'm with ya mostly. When we drafted Clay I he reminded me of Shannon Sharpe as far as his intangibles. Things like size, speed, and small school. Obviously he isn't a Shannon Sharpe player but IMO he can become a very good TE. Now I would also like to see us have another TE threat along side of him. Keller and Clay would have been a great combo.

I totally agree w. that last part. They would have complemented each other well.

The other TEs on this team (Sims & Egnew) are even more limited than Clay, so far. If Keller were here, he'd be 1 and Clay number 2 -- and a decent unit.

I totally agree. It's the hardest piece of the puzzle to find.

However, the Bills are approaching the place talent-wise that a simple "game manager" QB could have a 10-6 record. Easy, with the talent they've assembled at key positions.

I think the Bills could be better than us next year but I think EJ Manuel will turn out to not progress. I've never seen the tools and ability there to really elevate his team as a passer week in and week out.

If you look at the talent -- and at what limited QBs can do on dominant teams like San Fran -- Buffalo has an easy chance at 10-6 w. Manuel next year. And I say this as not sold on Manuel at all. It's a tribute to their overall talent at skill positions.

Neither manuel or lewis will EVER be better than Tannehill.

Our problem is that our RB corpse (pun intended) can only dream of remotely approaching cj spiller's level.
