Have you missed Surtain and Knight?

Just wondering how the Fins preseason is going. We in KC land have been very happy with the play of Patrick Surtain and "Sergeant" Sammy Knight. How is the D coping with the loss of those two players, and have they been easy to replace?

Good luck on a great season...Bet your excited to see Ronnie Brown run.

Well we all knew we'd miss Surtain...but you can have Sammy...He'll let you down later in the season...always does...

How is Matt Roth looking? I am an Iowa boy, and watched Matt Roth play his entire college career. I always thought Roth would make a better LB in a 3-4 scheme at the Pro level, but it looks like you guys have him playing DE. He'll thrive no matter where you put the guy.

How about Freddie Russell? I know he was on your PS last season. Bottom line, he was one of the best College RB's I've ever seen. He reminded me a lot of Priest Holmes. Great vision, and cutback ability. Pretty little in stature though.

He won't let us down, because we won't ask him to cover WR's like Miami did. Gunther Cunningham will play to his strengths, and he has a lot of strengths.

When Ricky Williams gets back from suspension, who do you guys think will start? Ronnie or Ricky?

you think you have something in knight and surtain? just wait til the games matter lol. i won't deny they are better than what we have, but that ain't sayin' a whole lot.

They have a diamond in Surtain! I for one wish like hell we still had Patrick.

Ronnie Brown got Surtains money. :fire:

Not exactly, but isn't the 20 million spread out across 6 years. So 3-4 million or so this year?

Well Ricky is THE starter as of right now. Ronnie is buried on the depth chat (like #6) and while he will help himself and improve in the next three weeks, he really needs some RBs to be shipped out to get into the lineup. There are still having him spend valuable practice time doing other things like an HBack (slot-wr,fb,te) and thus he will need some lucky breaks to happen to become the starter. The team is preparing to have Ricky carry the ball 20-25 times a contest from game 5 on.

Ronnie practices with 2nd team

Of course he does. They are force feeding him as much as they can. He is still at #6 on the depth chart and he is still working at other places besides tailback. They will be working hard to improve is status the next three weeks. They know what they have with Morris, Minor and such. With the majority of individual drills coming to end soon, they are force feeding him everything they can. Including working with the 1's and 2's.

The Phins got rid of Knight for the same reason the Saints weren't prepared to give him a big payday. While he's a heavy hitter and a ballhawk, he doesn't have any speed. At all.

I read an interview with Gun Cunningham awhile back. He said that Knight is plenty fast enough to play SS, and that questions about his speed are way overblown.

Knight isn't the fastest guy in the league, be he sure didn't have a problem running stride for stride with Anquan Boldin on a fly pattern the other night...Boldin is a 4.4 guy.

Look KC fan, you come here and ask us if we miss them and whatnot... and we tell you honestly that we do not miss Sammy. So you get all defensive and start brushing off his negatives.. you asked for our opinion and got it. We watched Sammy Knight for two full seasons- you did not. He IS slow. He DOES get beat. He IS a liability. If you dont take our word for it, just wait and see for yourself. He may hit hard, but he is not worth the money he got. He walked from the Saints and now from us... he isnt worth the big money because his negatives outweigh his positives. No offense, you guys were just so desperate for D so he found the perfect situation on a team that would overpay for him.

However, Surtain is a great player that you will just love.

Enjoy.
