Hayden Fox's Week Four Assessment

A win, but three more turnovers. I haven't seen the game yet so I'll have to reserve my thoughts to just that. Have to clean those turnovers up.

Agreed. Big turnovers too. Fumbling at the 1 (Miller), PI on a screen that was a TD (Sims), and then Landry fumbling again could've destroyed the game and season. I'll take the win. Clean up the bull**** and things might get interesting.

Great write-up again Hayden and the team needed this on so many levels before the by-week.

When Starks, McCain, & R Jones get back, I'd like to see the phins run the 5-2-4 full time.

As Sheppard gets more acclimated especially with the return of Misi & Jordan, The D could be real good.

I could see it giving Buffalo and the jest fits. My question; will it be used to slow down Cutler & Rodgers?
I wouldn't. That defensive alignment is too susceptible to crossing routes and short passes. Plus, if you manage to have a QB that can carry out a good play fake that sucks in the linebackers the field behind the linebackers and in front of the DBs...normally occupied by TEs or RBs in pass patterns, will be wide open...remember how open Sammy Watkins was against us? It will be like that all game.

I thought Will Davis looked poor this game. Dogged it in the 4th quarter pursuing a guy and then next play got smoked for TD. Have to bring it every play no matter what the score.

great assessment. 1-3 would've been disaster heading into the bye, and I don't know how I would've handled the constant negativity around here for another two weeks. 2-2 never felt so good.

Good writeup Haden. This is how I expected the team to look to start the year. Packers game will be tough but I am excited to see Miami play with most of their injured players back.

How about a little recognition that Joe Philbin effectively found a way to light a fire under Ryan Tannehill's butt by the public non commitment.
In some of the early games, Tannehill was lackluster but in this game he appeared far more passionate and desperate for a win. I am still of the view that Joe worded things carefully but it was a deliberate strategy to put some pressure on his QB.
The general impression is that Joe bungled but just maybe he knew precisely what he was doing to fire up Ryan.

Bill Lazor fixed the running game. You see a lot of runs where we have defenders spread out with stuff like 4 receivers stacked out wide on either side in order to create room inside.

Coaching matters.
Plus the many wide receiver screens from this formation. They found the mismatch and exploited it. Something that's been missing.

Thanks for the write up Hayden

I do not buy that narrative. Cannot do it my friend.

Joe was reckless this week. For the short-term, Joe might get something out of RT and the team, but when adversity hits, I do not see this team selling out for Philbin and that is on Joe.

He's been trailing on a lot of plays this year. I think he's peeking into the backfield trying to get a pick and he's getting caught. Taylor played solid...Jimmy Wilson was late on a few throws and if he wasn't trying to jack up a player on a deep throw and actually looked up and could tack the ball he would have had an easy pick (can't remember what quarter that was in). I'll be glad when Reshad Jones is back.

Huge confidence booster for Walt Aikens though on the pick. He may turn into a solid FS...still early but we were fortunate to be in a blowout cause a lot of our young guys got some good run. Aikens, Fede, Tripp, Will Davis and Jamar Taylor all got a lot of playing time in the 4th quarter.

If only Rex Ryan had coddled Snatchez a little bit more. Tannehill finally understanding that his job isn't a birth right, was a good thing. If Tannehill isn't the type if qb to handle such a thing, he isn't who you make him out to be.

You know why the WR bubble screens worked this week? The Raiders kept lining up 1-2 DBs against 3 receivers in trips formation.

So yeah, that's why they finally worked this week.

I'm with you. Hate when these guys get babied.

Aikens had the pick but that was a couple plays after he was nowhere on that blown coverage. Can't let that happen or he won't see the field no matter how much he can pick.
