Heat-Pistons Predictions

For someone who seems to enjoy defending this team you dont know much about em....

Are you saying they didn't win on each others homecourt last year and rasheed didn't guarantee a win last year? Or are yuo saying detroit didn't win big games on the road at NJ, at Ind and at LA?

They didn't struggle at all.....They played San Antonio twice (a very good team) and lost the first game at SA without Wade...and then beat them in MIA at full strength...SA was at full strength for both games.

I guess you missed my post the other day. Here is their record against the top teams(I didn't even include Indiana which whooped them this year):

Vs. Dallas- 0-2
vs. SA- 1-1
vs. Det- 1-2
vs. Sea- 0-2
vs. Pho- 1-1
vs. Hou- 1-1
--------------
4-9 vs. the best teams in the league
55-14 vs. the rest of the league

-win % against the top teams was 31%
-win % against the also rans was 80%

Those #s suggest they have struggled against the better teams in the league.

By the way, how come there aren't posts on how great 'Zo is after he got dominated by Brendan Haywood?

I shake my head every time a Heat fan calls Zo a great player, because he's far from that right now, although he used to be. However, do me a favor......tell me how 13 points on 47% shooting & 8.8 boards in 33 minutes a game is dominating numbers for a center?

Brendan was 7 of 14 and scored 18 points while Zo went scoreless.

Zo played 18 minutes and took 1 shot. He was in foul trouble the entire game, but came back later and made the second most important play of the game(only EJ's tripled outshined it) with the last possession block. In game 3 where he and Haywood played an even amount of minutes, Zo put up 14 points, 13 boards, and 4 blocks. Haywood had 15 points, 8 boards, & a block.

Neither of the two dominated the other, it was more even with Zo stepping up late in both games, which gave him somewhat of an edge to me.

Foul trouble counts, last night Brendan dominated. Overall it's clsoe, my point was everyone was going a bit overboard on 'Zo then he has a clunker last night. He's a serviceable backup but hthis isn't Zo of the late 90s anymore.

Indiana Whooping us? I didn't know that OT victories are considered Whoopings.....

Listen Nyunc...you are just a hater....go watch that crap team you got in the Knicks....or do they still play Basketball in NY? My Bad...I forgot....you don't have a team anymore.

The Heat is 8-0 in the Playoffs...the number one seed in the East and getting well rested to smash their next opponent...there....take those stats and smoke them along with the bad weed you are currently doin'.

I thought you played 4 times and they were 3-1 instead you played 3 times and they were 2-1, that's still more losses than wins, right?

yes I'm just a "hater" Apparently you have been following the heat for 15 years b/c you know what great basketball is and you know that Mourning is a HOFer so you must have been a huge heat fan all of your life  I'm a Net fan and your team has never made as far as my team did 2 and 3 years ago. Let's see what happens when yuo play some good teams.

Unfortunately for you the Nets, Wizards, Bulls, Celts and celts are no longer around. If you can't see the difference btw those teams and the Pistons and other teams out west then you know even less about basketball than I thought.

Dude...WTF is your problem? Let me guess...if we sweep the Pistons....if they even make it to the ECF....what will it be? They suck? Or aren't DEEP? Or the Refs? What?

I can just see you now if the Heat loses in the Finals to San Antonio to a Ginobli Half Court shot at the buzzer in game 7 on here saying "I Told you so...they suck."

You still know nothing.

I also love it how....because we beat a team...they automatically must suck. What was NJ record down the stretch? Have you even looked at the Wiz' offensive stats? These were two good playoff opponents...the HEAT was just much better.

Are you trying to tell me the Nets and Wizards are big time teams? I don't have a problem I just want Miami to do it the next 2 rounds. If they just do it 1 more round I'll be impressed, like I told you last week if you are right and the Heat dismantle the Pistons I'll tip my cap but until then they haven't proven anything to me.

I don't know what you want me to say? Actually I do, you want me to call them an all-time great team and to consider them a lock for the title. Well I can't do that just yet, they are a very good team but the next few weeks will tell us where they fall historically.

speaking of problems this is your. You think b/c I have questions about the Heat that I think they suck. I don't, I think they are very good but they still have alot to prove. Beating the Nets and Wizards proves nothing except that they did waht they were supposed to do.

You still know nothing.

You keep saying this but i back up my points w/ facts while all you do is deflect. Just once come back at me w/ a valid argument.

I didn't say they sucked, I said they are mediocre and they are. I am a Net fan so I watched them down the stretch and while they played well to get in the playoffs they were not a very good team. The Nets don't have enough size to compete a/ Miami and I picked Miami to win in 5. Washington is very young and are an ok team but they can't compete w/ the better teams in the league. They benefitted from playing in a bad division(just as the Nets did) as the only good team in your division was Miami.

You act like I was saying NJ and Wash were big time teams before they played Miami and now I say they suck, that's not the case. I said before the playoffs that Miami would cruise to the conf finals and that would be their first test. They CAN beat Detroit but I still favor Detroit. I apol, ogize for having a different opinion than yourself

Wait till we DO dismantle the Pissedons.

I think most would take him over any other backup center in the league. Brendan didnt dominate against Zo...he beat up on Doleac and Laettner. I love Brendan from his Carolina days and he does have a good game every once in a while. He even had a good one against Shaq in the reg season. With Haywood it certainly isnt lack of ability...he has that.

If you watched them down the stretch to see form your opinion on them that was not very smart. Shaq was hurt in the last month or so and then the team was locked into the 1 seed so they became complacent.

You say they are mediocre? How many teams do you think are better than the heat? Before that you call them very good. So which are they?

Dont even compare the atlantic to the southeast. The atlantic is the worst division in the league and maybe the worst in the last couple of years.

You can talk about the heats reg season record vs the top teams in the league all you want but look at what they have done playoffs compared to what the pistons have done. The pistons lost a game to a sixers team that was probably worse than the nets and now they have lost two to an undermanned pacers team. Meanwhile the heat have managed to sweep two series with shaq hampered.

I think Detroit and San Antonio are better than Miami.

I agree the Atlantic was brutal BUT so was the Heat's division. Outside of the Heat that division wasn't as good as the Atlantic, what made the SE better was the fact they had the Heat in it but the Heat got to fatten their record against nothing but bad to mediocre(Wash) teams.

You can talk about the heats reg season record vs the top teams in the league all you want but look at what they have done playoffs compared to what the pistons have done.

Indian is better than any team Miami has faced and that's a big rivalry so the fact they have lost 2 is not shocking. If they lose the series that will be shocking.

A Sixer team that the Nets were better than yet they finished higher than the Nets in the Atlantic. We aren't larning anything from watching either Detroit or Miami play these first 2 rounds, we'll find out alot when they meet up b/c they are clearly the top 2 teams in the East w/ no competition.

the Heat will beat whoever they play and they will have time to rest O'Neal so when it's time to play the Pistons they better be ready

I'm going to predict it now, when miami loses Game 1 to Detroit the first excuse I'll hear is "we had too much time to rest".

Shaq has been bothered by his current problem for a while now, do you really expect it to heal w/ a week 1/2 off? He's not going to be near 100% during these playoffs, you can get away w/ that against teams like NJ and Wash but not agaist Det and SA.
