Henne Buzz

Vaark you can't be anymore on point with your Orton posts. I was told I was talking out of my *** when I said I wanted Henne over him. Even if Henne stunk it up last night he probably still has a better night than Orton did. Thank goodness we passed on that drunk of a QB.

Yeah, I found it infuriating that Orton supporters around here were arrogant enough to believe that the 80% or so of them who wanted Henne gone were actually smarter, more informed than the 90% of Denver fans (based on 2 polls) who wanted to be rid of Orton, regardless of whether Tebow or anyone else was waiting in the wings. The post I linked to above is really no different than the cluster preceding it over the last several months- down to the realization that he's a good practice QB and that's it. That's why I kept ratcheting up his pizz poor career 3rd down and last season 4th qtr QBRs despite his misleadingly nice looking stats. You really do learn a lot on opponents' boards since no one is more critical of a team or players than their own diehard fans.

First time poster but long time lurker.

I for one was happy for Henne and the way he played last night. He looked decisive as well as confident. It made me feel much better to see him audible and changing plays at the line and directing people according to the defensive formations the Pats were throwing at him. I dont remember seeing him do that at all while we had the hospice escapee calling our plays.

Look, there's things he needs to work on, but i'd rather be stuck with him and working on those things he needs to improve on (fade routes in the redzone, communication with BMarsh, etc) than be stuck with guys like AJ Feeley, Joey Harrington, Ray Lucas and so on. He has what it takes, and i for one am willing to give him another shot.

NOW to be fair, we should chant ... We DON'T want Orton!! ... We DON'T want Orton!! ... We DON'T want Orton!!

Henne would probably get a kick out of it!!

One guy told me "I wish the 49ers had Chad Henne. I really wanted to draft him when he came out. He's going to be something special." I couldn't beleive what I was hearing...we have a franchise QB

I know you're just joking, but if that DOES happen I'd love it lol make it happen!

keep it up Chad

while we're on the topic of draftees taking years to fulfill potential, how many seasons was it before Soliai became a dominant force in the middle?

I think it was his 4th season. This is Henne's 4th season.

My other concern is that this is Henne's last year on his rookie contract. At what point do they try to extend him? And how much are they going to have to pay if he keeps playing well?

I'm glad he had a solid outing against the Pats, but I've said it before and I'll say it again. Let's don't appoint him king of Miami just yet. Yes, I am hearing a lot of positive things about him from non-Dolphins fans, but they're basing that opinion on 1 well played game, using an offensive scheme that the Pats (in theory) had no video on. So we were bound to catch them at least a little bit off guard. These non-fans that are praising him at the moment haven't suffered through the last two desperately frustrating seasons with the rest of us. I sincerely hope his progress continues though, I'd say it's about time.

Agreed 100%. In each of the last two seasons after the JETS MNF game, the main thing said in these boards was WE GOT OUR QB OF THE FUTURE..YAYYY! People need to calm down. The Pat's defense is suspect at best and that was the first game of the season.

Don't break out the annoiting oil just yet on CH.... there are still issues with accuracy and touch... in fact... they have always been the issues.... the better QB's make the throws that count (points)... and then there's all the rest.... CH left at least 2/3 TD's on the field... those are the stats that count and turn into the real stat that counts... winning.

I was glad to see that Henn played good, but really after one game against a less than stellar defense we now think the light has come on. So i guess we all agree that our defense will suck all year because they played bad against NE. U cant have it both ways.

I did not look at the exact numbers (Brady and Henne had), but if Welker/Brady dont have that 99 yard touch down, than Henne would have had more yards I think. I dont like what/if BS, but just something to chew on. I am cautiously optimistic about what kind of season Henne will have

Sorry if this has already been posted. Havent finished reading all the posts yet.
YES! Without that play, which was inexcusable, Henne basically matched Brady in yardage. Henne is NOT Brady, but all I am hearing is how Brady torched us for 500+ yards. Didn't Henne, for one game, kind of torch NE?
