We could go on forever about flaws we have, players that are under producing or injured, or even how inept our coaching staff is at times. We could discuss how Carpenter missed two easy field goals against houston, or how our defense didn't come up big when they needed to against Cleveland.

The bottom line is, all these things would be forgotten if Henne stepped up when the opportunity was there. I don't think anyone would argue that we would be 3-0 right now if we switched qbs with our oppoenent for each of our 3 games. What McCoy did is the same thing that Rodgers would have done, Brady, Manning, Brees,and any other winning qb; and they would have done it regardless of who the oppossing defense was. Meanwhile, Henne could not get us 15-20 yds. The sad thing is, I knew he wasn't going to. There was no doubt in my mind that he was not going to get those yards (I left the bar before the last two plays even happened, with not even a shrewd of doubt that we would lose).

If your qb doesen't have that killer instinct, your never going to be better than mediocre.
 
Does anyone on this Dolphins team right now have that "killer instinct"? Doesn't look like it to me. A team is a direct reflection of it's coach / coaching staff. It's not there, and it's not going to be there until we have a new coaching staff that brings that attitude to the team.
 
Chad Henne is inconsistent. He proved in game 1 that he CAN play, passing for over 400 yards was it? The next game he stunk it up. Henne doesn't suck, but he's no pro-bowler either. One word describes him and that's: Inconsistent. Inconsistency doesn't take you to the playoffs. You'd think by now that Sparano would realize that, and also realize that every playoff team had a great QB and Oline. Henne wont produce if he's running for his life every play, so its time to cut your losses and get that star QB and upgrade your line.
 
mccoy was terrible and was under essentially NO pressure all game, you really think he would have led us to victory running for his life all game? keep dreaming, i'm all for drafting luck, landry, barkley, or whoever we like in the 1st round next year but henne has not been bad this year, in fact after 3 weeks he's 13th in the nfl according to espn's new qbr statistic despite poor redzone performance; brandon marshall has been much more of a problem this yr than henne, but everyone lets him off the hook, i was against trading for marshall from the start and my stance hasn't changed, marshall is not a winner in the nfl, he's a stat grabber and that's it

that ****ty qb you speak of had your team up by 6 points, with 1:55 to play.....
 
Henne is actually consistent in one aspect: no matter how good or bad of a game he has, he will never come up big in the end when it matters most. I'm actually not sure if we would have won with McCoy as our qb. I do think that McCoy would have found a way to get 15 yds though.
 
there is one thing and one thing only that defense could NOT do... allow a td.... just ONE thing.
 
henne sucks because he ain't tackling on defense or catching touchdown passes. seriously with all thats ****ed up on this team its amusing that beating the henne sucks drum makes you feel better.

I agree with this and I can honestly say I gave up on Henne after the Pats game in week 4 last season. Last year I always felt if the QB play was better the team would be better but this year I'm not so sure. Henne's protection has been terrible, the guys who hate him should be happy because unless something changes we will definetly get a look at Matt Moore before long because Henne will get hurt. Columbo is as advertised thus far, sucks.

What's most dissapointing to me is this defense, specifically the front 7. We seem to get no QB pressure in big moments, the ILB's we brought in to make big plays and be able to cover TE's and RB's out of the backfield are invisible and what's worse is they don't do a good job against the run either. Can someone explain to me why on the 4th and 4 Wake headed upfield to the QB then tried to change direction and go after the RB who slipped out that nobody covered? Was our plan to have our best pass rusher take the back out of the backfield or was it just a good play design? I thought Will Allen was at least competant, but he was beaten at some big moments. Sean Smith's ball skills are horrible and I thought he got away with a couple PI's as well. Wilson may have missed but you have to admit he at least looked competant going for the ball in the end zone while Sean Smith looked completely out of position.

mccoy was awful. and henne played relatively well. i did notice that his pocket presence left something to be desired in this game though and it seems his trust in the line is diminished (although cant blame him) there were times he would actually step up INTO the pressure when his pocket was clear - creating pressure that didnt actually exist. he also started to revert to his old form where he would take a couple steps up into the pocket, tuck the ball, and put his head down, preventing him from scanning the field. he gave up kinda early on some plays, and left a couple plays on the field. in addition, when he did this there were a couple of times he simply could have broken the pocket and found running room, and potentially ran some receivers open. instead he would dive into the line. and obviously he wasnt able to get a first down when we needed one at the end of the game. part of this tho was the poor call on first down. clyde gates at this point has no business being on the field. he has no idea how to run routes, and it was crazy to trust him in that situation, he didnt give henne an opportunity to get him the ball, because he hugged the sideline in that pattern. hes got to press the field more in order to give henne room to make that throw to the outside. i dont know that gates has the body control to make those catches anyways (like hartline). early on it looks like gates is going to need to be wide open in order to complete those passes. so there was certainly alot not to like, and AGAIN henne fails to get it done for whatever reason. and mccoy did get it done (with help from us of course). but henne played much better in this game than mccoy did. early on rashad jones for absolutely NO REASON (no play fake or anything) jumped up into the middle of the field while a receiver ran right by him. receiver was WIDE OPEN, and mccoy missed him for a big TD.
 
What Henne is or isn't has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the team and its problems...I don't see where the threadstarter was addressing the rest of the team, just Henne.

As we have all seen, Henne has been less than stellar in the red zone his whole career. I do think he has improved but I really haven't seen enough to mark him as our franchise quarterback.

Is it really neccesary for the mods to add editorial comment to threads? Couldn't they just respond like everyone else?

What did he prove in game 1? Nothing that he didn't show in 2009. Mainly that he is capable of driving us to the brink of doing well and then not sealing the deal. We racked up lots of yards (a fair number in garbage time) but we also stalled at the goal over and over.
