Doubt it will be Peterson, but he will be very involved in the process.
Ross can't find his ass with his finger
NC I don't care who gets the credit, I just want them to clean house. Go heels!
I have no faith Ross will do anything.
I feel ya, but this is a big ego guy who does not like to lose. A multi-billionaire. Losing is not a part of his psyche. He will not put up with incompetence or the embarrassment of this total mess called the Dolphins. He also doesn't like losing money and he knows the fans will not show up next year without a BIG change. Change is coming. Big change.
I don't see that in him. I've done a lot of research on him and I see him as a guy who has failed in the past but doesn't repeat his mistakes. He really doesn't like to lose. He trusted Ireland and Ireland let him down. I would think that relationship is done and doubt he makes that mistake again. Ross doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who lives in the past, so he will take his time and then make his decision. Jmho Ireland will be gone and eventually so will Joe. He will spend whatever it takes to get the right people.
Was this regarding my post about being insecure? If so, I think the biggest indicator is that he had to go out and hire a committee to help make decisions for him that other owner's make w/o said committee. Now I can also see where doing this is a smart move by him, knowing your shortcomings and going out trying to be better prepared. But it also shows me he has no faith in his own decision making when it comes to this team. So I can't fully get behind the idea he will make the right decision.
Nonetheless, we'll soon find out
He has no background with this type of business so it makes perfect sense that he would seek others counsel who do have that experience. In the case of Ireland, he made a mistake. As a businessman myself I have in the past tended to rely on my instincts or my gut rather than the facts, and it has cost me. In MBA school I learned that was a common pitfall and have since developed a group of business mentors that I can bounce my ideas off of, and they help me formulate my decisions. I eventually make the final decision but I have learned not to only trust my gut. I think Ross trusted his instincts on Ireland and he was betrayed.
You can bet on this. The losing is one thing, but the embarrassment and the blowback of the Martin fiasco is another. Ross has a lot of pride and he will not make the same mistake again without the input from many NFL sources. I'm just guessing but I highly doubt he will keep Ireland. My OP was that Ross made the final call on Philbin, who is a good man, but he has now realized that was also a mistake. He needs some cover now to correct those mistakes and to avoid the impression that he messed up multiple times. The Martin mess has also hurt the NFL and not just the Dolphins. The outcome of the investigation could impact every franchise. You can bet that every owner wants this to go away, so they will be there for him and help him get the franchise back on track by making a good hire this time. Yes, his ego got in the way with Philbin and Ireland, but he won't make those mistakes again.
That's why you wait until the end of the season to make these calls. Two days ago Ireland and Philbin were safe and we were going to the playoffs. This is not normal.
