Here's the problem

Dont take this wrong way OP, but here is the 49ers draft picks the year THEY WENT TO THE SUPERBOWL

1 (30) - A.J. Jenkins, WR, Illinois
2 (61) - LaMichael James, RB, Oregon
4 (117) - Joe Looney, OG, Wake Forest
5 (165) - Darius Fleming, OLB, Notre Dame
6 (180) - Trent Robinson, FS, Michigan State
6 (199) - Jason Slowey, OL, Western Oregon
7 (237) - Cam Johnson, DE/OLB, Virginia

not 1 significant contributor. There's more to the problem than just this years draft class

MAybe when we were 3-0 and all the crap was hidden (even though we still had one of the worst total offenses and total defenses in the league even at that point)

I remember being told how brilliant this draft was...it was his best draft ever!!!

When your team is already stacked with talent (and capable coaches - which we do not have) it is easier to disguise the mistakes. Or maybe when you have a QB who can make incredible plays like Kaepernick did last year.

The Dion Jordan pick is still a good one I believe. Wake is going to be 32. And after the past two weeks, it looked like he was 42. I did not know he was on the field.

This years class was frustrating to say the least. A team needs some kind of production from its rookies and we got next to nothing from them. And to make matters worse we have no clue or sign if any of these guys can actually play at an nfl level.

That's the point I was making. The OP stated "Here's the problem" I was simply showing that, no, having an underachieving draft class isn't THE problem as seen with the 49ers in 2012. There are far bigger problems on this team than rookies not contributing right away. Bad coaching, years of bad personnel decision, and not knowing if we have a franchise qb are problems much bigger than this

unfortunately you have done yourself a diservice by not watching the games or reading about our kicking. If you did you would have known that Sturgis is currently ranked 30th in the league in field goals with an abysmal 76%. Conversely Carpenter is the 12th ranked kicker in the league with a very good 91%

Sturgis one of the worst kickers? I disagree.

That is because their GM had already built a good team......not the case with our suck ass GM!

Because Ireland is a Fng idiot....until he is gone we are F'ed

Yeah and he let the Defence MVP go in Dansby and even after he had all that money and picks , just like the lil boy in a whore house with a naked girl on the bed , Had it and didnt know what to do with it ,and the sad part was he didnt even use half our cap money to sign any players to help and contribute , But thank God , because he would have only screwed that up and wasted our cap on busts .

new gm, grimes and others are not resigning here. you want to clean house? you go full bore.

Well consider that Jordan didn't make an impact because a third-round player from the year prior (Vernon) did, and consider that Taylor didn't make an impact because a Pro Bowl free agent signing (Grimes) did. Those were both Ireland's moves, as well.

After that you're talking about third-rounders and beyond, and I'd caution anyone to expect anything significant from one of them in his rookie season.

Then he should not have drafted them, and actually drafted positions where there was a need.

Have you considered that drafting players involves more than just a one-year vision?

Drafting for need results in drafting Jamar Fletcher instead of Drew Brees...

I'd encourage you to research how often that's the case for teams in the league.

Contributors, not necessarily starters. I count a contributor as someone who can make a difference when they hit the field. Jordan barely gets a nod here.

2013 was a draft considered not to have any elite talent, but major depth, with not much drop off in talent from rounds 1-3. We had 5 picks in this range, but decide on trading up for a player more suited to playing a 3-4??????

Why dont we ever seem to tailor our re-signings and FA so that our perceived needs are the strength of the draft?

The major strengths atop of draft were OT, OG, DE & DT.

We sat at 12 knowing the 3 OT would be gone, at least one of Warmack & Cooper would be gone, including Jordan, Ansah & Mingo. Why then didnt we stay at 12 knowing there would be major talent available at the DT spot, not re-sign Starks, using the £8m elsewhere and also knowing Soliai would be a FA 2014?
