Hickey is off to a great start so far

If Jeff Ireland was here he would lock Ware up for 20M a year and when Miles Austin is released he would give him a 5 year, 55 million dollar deal.

last year Ireland drafted D. Thomas in the 3rd round. Could not outplay brenner or samuda. Signed Clabo and forced team to play Martin at LT.

This year so far: Sign Pro Bowl LT and trade MArtin for a draft pick. More to come. I will take this years approach.

I don't mean to be overly negative as I think Hickey is doing well to address our needs so far BUT:

1. Albert - same draft class as Jake Long, fewer pro bowls, more expensive and a year older - hard to get excited over a big signing like this when it really could have been avoided had we just kept Long last year.

2. Grimes - great! Very happy!

3. Thomas - don't know anything about him but he doesn't seem to have the size that Big Paul had. Is he going to be an effective clogged for us in the middle?

4. Delmas - fine w him replacing Clemons.

Like all FA signings, time will tell if we did well. I'm glad we don't need to use our no 1 pick on a LT (again).

yeah, but Ireland took care of glaring weakness at WR, Hickey is taking care of glaring weakness at OL. Different circumstances. Hickey doesnt have to sniff a WR if he doesnt want to.

We've been down this road before. In fact, it was this time last year as a matter of fact. Show me results on the field.

Im happy that he seems to have a plan to fill these holes, unlike a typical Jeffy offseason

even setting aside that I hate the Albert deal I was quite disappointed last night. Lets hope they do more work today

Our draft board has changed considerably - we can go BPA - with a or without a few more signings

OL is still a huge need. I mean we had a pro bowl LT and a top center not very long ago.

I do hate the Pats and Niners because they have had much better organizations and coaches than us. The jets hell I kind of just pity them lol.
At least their new Gm has made some good moves in last year to try to make them better

As for #1, just how great was Long last year with the Rams? He was knocked out of a few games before the season ending knee injury. Even if that injury didn't happen he wasn't playing at a Pro Bowl level. Long signed a four-year, $34 million deal with St. Louis that included $16 million guaranteed. Albert, the left tackle long coveted by the Dolphins, has agreed to a five-year, $47 million contract, with at least $25 million guaranteed. We are playing a little bit more for Albert but we are also paying for a player that is playing at a Pro Bowl level. Also, Long allegedly took less money to sign with the Rams. So yes we could have kept him but he was playing at a downward trend at that point and is not the player Albert is right now.

3. I think you mean Mitchell, who grades out as an A vs Soliai who grades out at a C+. I will gladly take the player who grades out at an A, especially when I can get him for half the price of the guy who grades out at a C+. Soliai will be missed but I think we will be just fine with Mitchell, who was the leading tackler at DT last season in the league.

I get the feeling that the teams key people are actually working together, maybe Ireland was a bigger a-hole than reported, he was trained by Parcells who is an ego-maniacal a- hole and control freak.
What Ross talked about having the 3 key people work together and it sure looks like it now.
Don't forget Long got $ 60 million from the Fins.
