Hickey pre-draft press conference at 1 pm today

Yeah, I can empathize with the frustration here. Last time I was at the local Indian casino playing poker, that aggressive bettor to my left was being a real butthead refusing my polite request for a heads-up on what down cards he was holding. It's just frustrating :idk:

I think one of Hickey's best traits is that he seems like a nice guy. I think that can go a long way when it comes to signing and dealing with players and with getting deals done with other teams in the league when it comes to trades. I think he is a breath of fresh air when you compare his style with Ireland. I do have to hand it to Ireland though, when it came to making trades he did a great job of getting the better end of the deal value wise. What Ireland paid to move up in last year's draft was highway robbery. He also got great value in the trade up for Daniel Thomas and for what he paid to acquire Reggie Bush.

He got nothing for Marshall. Two terrible trades there. We've yet to see anything out of the Davis trade. The Raiders were obviously in a panic to get the hell out of 3. We traded a pick for Reggie Bush, and he turned out to be everything we could have hoped for and more then we don't even sign him for the same price without having to give a pick this time? Wouldn't that mean the trade was dumb in the first place?

He did say he " always wants more picks". Could mean he is pushing to find a way to trade back and get a few more picks?

I hate that you are putting me in the position to defend Ireland, but he did make a great deal getting Reggie Bush for so little. Whether they resigned him or not was not the point, that was an organizational decision to not pay him big money under a different coaching staff. As far as the Marshall trade, Marshall was damaged goods. He had another off field incident and was a diva receiver who the organization had grown tired of and the new regime did not want to deal with. I believe they got what they could for Marshall. Getting a second round pick for Davis was about market value for him. All I was saying is Ireland got the better of most of the deals he made with other teams as far as value goes. What he did with the draft picks that were acquired from those deals is a different argument and hard to defend.
