Hickey's BPA vs BOLA

Whatever. We think. We should. Do expect. The opposite.

Hickey is on record for going BPA. Could he say one thing, and do another? I think this is the reason he tried so hard to get Streiff in for a vist, with the Herald saying "almost begging."

BPA ... we have plenty of needs.

Hickey has said that he will go BPA in the draft, which everyone loved. Now I wonder if he will change from BPA to Best OL Available at the top of the draft. Also, has anyone changed their opinion based on where the team stands?
going BPA depends upon how amny positions are a need. we have a lot. example RT, the draft is deep in OT BUT if a player we like is not the BPA at that draft position(for all rounds) IMHO we say take the BPA and sign Clabo/Ryan Harris/McKinnie as a stop gap and look to a future RT next year.

Still BPA, which has a high likelihood of being Martin at 19. That being said, if we take him and pass on playmakers like Ebron, who has no business falling to us, I'd be extremely upset.

Martin is really the only one I would be okay with at 19 now that we have our LT, simply because of his versatility over the whole line. #19 is too high for strictly RT or OG.

I know that many here want Martin, and from everything I know about him he should be a VG or better OG in the NFL. That's where I have a problem, as a G is not gonna make plays and is not a good value position cap wise.

If the BPA is an offensive lineman fine, but otherwise don't miss out on a more talented player for need. Moseley or Shazier at linebacker would be nice in the 1st. I think there's a misconception that Miami won't find starting caliber offensive linemen unless they pick one in the 1st. The talent at the position is such that the Dolphins could probably find starters in the 3rd and 4th round. It's one of the deepest positions in the draft.

Miami now needs a R-tackle and a Guard, two positions that in such a deep O-Line draft, can easily find quality in the 2nd, 3rd, and possibly 4th, depending how fast they start going off the board. Getting best player available, then going to the O-line (If the best player was not a Linemen) later.

I want the O-line fixed once and for all, but not at the point of missing out on one of the top TE, LB, S, or D-linemen that could help Miami far more then a possible O-linemen we could get same talent or a nit less in the 2nd or 3rd.

My ideal top two picks would be Pryor, Ebron or Moseley at #1, and an OT who could play RT this year, and have the potential to move to LT in a couple of years. I'm still adding at least 2 OL vets on 1 year deals.

with what the Pats are doing, getting Ebron would be beating them at their own game

Clay and Ebron in a double-TE formation. if the opposition loads the box our TE's go on pass routes, if they go nickle we run down their throats.

the Pats did this when Gronk was healthy and Hernandez was out of jail and it killed

so I preach BPA but sometimes you have to match what your division opponents are doing

Scenario: sign Clabo for 2 years, draft Ebron and a decent RB. we can force the defense's hand with two TE's, improved OL and a good RB

if this draft is deep in OL id go with something else in the first... but he probably will trade down at some point to get more picks...6 is just not enuff for us this year.

I agree for the most part, and few have been bigger opponents to drafting OL than me, but Martin is a little different for me just because he isn't limited to G, which means he brings a lot of flexibility to the line. I wouldn't love the pick, but I wouldn't throw my remote over it either, assuming we didn't skip on some serious talent in a playmaking position.

If he goes OL in 1st and 2nd round? Well, at least the new GM won't have to draft OL high for a while.

i hear people say Oline is deep this year, but are those oline a good scheme fit?
as far a OT goes I don't care about scheme. you get a guy who fits your scheme but cant handle a pass-rush then you get nothing

If Hickey, Philbin, and Benson project Martin as a VG RT, he gains value but, they were bending over backwards to try to get Streiff in. So, I have t believe they had other plans for #19 or, at least being in a better position on options. Just one more solid starter of 5-6 options would have made such a difference but, we move on.

The top 3 will be gone when we pick and i'm starting to think Zach Martin will be gone as well. I certainly do not want to reach for an o-lineman. Although I really like Xavier Su'a-Filo, does anyone else think its too early to pick him?
