This forum had split opinions on keeping Long, Bush, and most did not want to keep Dansby. They have all had VG seasons, with Dansby a shocker. He has 8 sacks, 4 picks, and 3 TD this past year, and has been a top 5 ILB vs the run and in cover.

Bush went for over 1,000 with a 4.5 avg and 4 TD while missing 2 games, and Long was a top 10 OT, playing very well vs the pass and on the run.

All three were also team leaders, on and off the field, which we saw on Hard Knocks. I have to believe they would have been a big help, on and off the field, this past year, and I have to think that there would not have been a "Bullygate" with them in Miami. Long made Richie a secondary Cog while the leader of the OL.

Philbin and/or Ireland did not want to keep them or, we easily could have. I have to believe that it was more Philbin in not wanting those type of players, and much preferring to have no one questioning him.

IF so, that's not gonna work in today's NFL. I have to wonder how this team would have done with the three team leaders.

Hindsight and what if's are easy but, do come into play with decisions looming on our staff.

You people keep on adding Long like a offer was not made. The guy took MORE MONEY to play in STL. Fact.

Bush, while healthy, is a nice weapon. But his inability to hit the hole and go, is what made him expendable.

And Dansby....the fat ass who came into camp over weight? Seriously? GTFO.

Dansbys contract was insane.
long turned down our offer
Reggie bush got 1000 yards, which means what exactly.

We had a better record without them here. They are gone now. Move on.

We should have never traded Freddie Solomon.

Wow dude...There's only a few of us here(old that is) that even remember Fast Freddie Solomon

I definitely agree with you here. I could never understand trading Freddie back in the day. Must have pissed off Shula

Considering what we replaced dansby with, hell ****ing yes! Why do you think our run defense is ****? Ellerbe and wheeler are 2 of the worst linebackers in run support according to PFF. They may even be the worst two.

I never wanted to get rid of Dansby, I think he was a cap casualty. Im pretty sure he was due to make north of 10mil for 2013 and he certainly wasnt worth that. However, its pretty appearent how important he was to the run for us. I think him and Resahd Jones worked better together too.

With Long being injury prone, he was a take it or leave scenario. Pretty sure everyone here was willing to let him walk.........but I (like the rest of us) thought we were going to address his replacement with anyone other than J. Martin.

I definitely wanted to keep Bush though. If we had an OC that could figure out how to use him (like Detroit), he could have been a bigger playmaker........and on the cheap.

Its hard to get a head when talent walks every year.....

Has anyone thought that maybe our coaches and develpmental staff are to blame?

Players are good before they come here. Wallace, Dansby, Marshall. They get here and suck, then they leave and get good again.

As opposed to the utter liability Dansby was against TE's? In a division that featured Gronk and Hernandez, and you would have been happy with Dansby another year? GTFO.

Dansby showed his want to play in MIAMI, by showing up fat and over weight. Maybe you find that acceptable, but I don't. Dansby wrote his own fat ass check out of town.

The only one missed proved to be a mistake to let go was Jake Long. Ellerbe is arguably an upgrade from Dansby on the field and in the locker room, but definitely an upgrade from the speed, salary cap and youth perspective. Dansby needed to go and we did well getting Ellerbe. That move is fine.

Bush was and is an exceptional back. I love what he brings to the table. But, Lamar Miller wasn't a huge step down and cost merely a fraction of the price. While I miss having the extra dimension that Bush brings, this one made sense because of the finances.

Jake Long is a good OT in pass protection and an exceptional OT in run block8ng. He isn't perfect and he isn't as good as he used to be, but without him we were disastrous. His absence cost us a playoff spot, was a primary factor in why we gave up more sacks than any other tram this year, and is directly linked to our failings in the run game. Long may not be the elite top LT in the game, but he clearly is still good and was needed. We dropped the ball on not resigning Jake Long.

The one you forgot to mention was Fasano. Keller was injury prone and failed to play a down during the regular seaaon. Our TE blocking was atrocious to the point that Michael El new was our best blocking TE. That is sad. Fasano was missed.

Riiiiiiight, cause ellerbe and wheeler are great in pass coverage. You must be brain dead, we still gave up a lot of plays to TEs.
