The only one missed proved to be a mistake to let go was Jake Long. Ellerbe is arguably an upgrade from Dansby on the field and in the locker room, but definitely an upgrade from the speed, salary cap and youth perspective. Dansby needed to go and we did well getting Ellerbe. That move is fine.
Bush was and is an exceptional back. I love what he brings to the table. But, Lamar Miller wasn't a huge step down and cost merely a fraction of the price. While I miss having the extra dimension that Bush brings, this one made sense because of the finances.
Jake Long is a good OT in pass protection and an exceptional OT in run block8ng. He isn't perfect and he isn't as good as he used to be, but without him we were disastrous. His absence cost us a playoff spot, was a primary factor in why we gave up more sacks than any other tram this year, and is directly linked to our failings in the run game. Long may not be the elite top LT in the game, but he clearly is still good and was needed. We dropped the ball on not resigning Jake Long.
The one you forgot to mention was Fasano. Keller was injury prone and failed to play a down during the regular seaaon. Our TE blocking was atrocious to the point that Michael El new was our best blocking TE. That is sad. Fasano was missed.
