Look at the recent teams that have gone for a win now at all costs mentality vs teams that build through draft and smart FA moves. Look at the recent super bowl winners. Look at the hangover that the Jets are in now. Look at the "dream team" Eagles last year.

Now look at the current Miami Dolphins. We likely wont get Manning and that does not make us a "laughing stock" as 11 other teams aren't getting him either. Everyone hates the term rebuild but circumstances have forced our hand. The FO could have kept an unhappy Marshall who will likely be suspended for at least 25% of next season. We could have overpaid for splashy FA Wr's after losing Marshall but half of the FA's have issues of their own and all of them so far have been vastly overpaid for their talent level. We are instead taking the correct path, the hard slow path that actually has a chance of working in the long term. Like it or not the Philbin era begins with rebuilding. And under the circumstances this is the only logical way to go for the dolphins to try to regain greatness.

I think we are moving to a GB model as opposed to a Jets/eagles style big splash in FA win now at all costs model. Like many I was really hoping for winning now but in our current circumstances (New Coach/not getting manning/marshall problems) I think I would rather build for the future now then bring another circus situation back to Mia by trying to sign a bunch of splashy FA's as a quick fix. Like it or not the circumstances we are currently faced with which we cant change have led us to this path. The Philbin era must begin with re-building if we want a chance for the dolphins to get back to winning.

History also shows idiots rarely win. Unfortunately our front office is stocked with them.

To judge our new coaching staff already is very premature. It is not their fault that Marshall punched birthday girl and I think they did the best they could with the manning situation. Ireland is pretty bad with interpersonal skills but he is far from the worst GM in the league in terms of talent evaluation and many of the early FA and draft pickups were supposedly parcells guys. Irelands track record as far as talent evaluation and finding deals post Parcells is actually not too bad. (reggie bush is an example)

I think Philben is clearing the decks, Marshall was always going to be a major headache potentially undermining what he wants to implement. The incident with birthday girl in NY sealed his fate. Correct me if I'm wrong but GB did not have a true no 1 diva receiver but a plethora of solid guys with good hands and good route running.

Thus far we have Hartline, Bess and Gates plus 2 draft picks can get it done, remember this years WR draft crop is DEEEEEEEP

Not judging the coach. I'm judging the scouts and talent evaluators, thier boss Ireland, and mr Ross.

I feel bad for philbin as he is handicapped with a front staff that hasnt found a diamond in the rough and hasn't been able to really develop any of their so called projects

Gimme a break. "Win now" is ALL that works. At the end of last year, we were playing like a borderline playoff team. We went into FA with plenty of cap room and plenty of potential. Now it's shot to hell. Another three-year plan by another unproven coach. GREAT.

Revisionist history is being done by those individuals who are just blind faithers with their favorite team.

More mediocrity coming up.

Ross is soon going to realize that many of us have become realists and won't waste money on the team for season tickets....

Greg Jennings is a top 10 receiver. He doesn't have an attitude problem either.

Really? So when Aaron Rodgers was drafted, and sat behind Favre for 3 years, Green Bay must have had a "Win Now" mentallity

Why don't you apply for a job with the FO then? Seeing as you have so many franchises consulting you for your vast knowledge of building a team.
Honestly, some of you guys are getting interminable

Provide some evidence to back up your assertions. The Steelers have always built through the draft, so have the Packers. The Pats core players were drafted by the organization and then they tweaked the roster with mid level FA's. Jimmy Johnson built his SB teams with a plethora of draft picks. That is FACT, not revisionist history.

I hope you spend your money on season tickets cause Ross needs people like you. Will buy anything when the product is terrible.

What you said does make sense, thanks for the clarification. I guess I am just more hopeful that a Parcells-less ross, with Philbin and Sherman as coaches have at least some chance molding this team into a winning franchise again.

I really don't know what you are holding as your standard of success. The jets made it to two AFC championship games, with the "buying big name talent" plan. During that same time we were going with the "build through the draft" ol fashion plan, with what was supposed to be the best in the business at the helm. Parcells in now long gone with his plan and that fat smart mouth is still sitting up there with a brighter future than what we have.

In my opinion the team that got it right was the team doing what I said WE should be doing all year, "SUCK FOR LUCK!!!!! They are the winners, with 2nd place going to the moron from DC. If you want to win in the league you have to do what it takes to get a young great QB. They are rarely going to fall in your lap like Danny fell to us or like Brady fell to the Pats. You have to go TAKE him. Like the Broncos did with Elway, or Atlanta with Vick, or the Giants with Eli. Waiting around to where you pick in the draft and hoping you are the one holding the magic pill gets you just where we are now, constantly starting over. And it will be where we are in another 3 years as well. You heard it here first, we are going no where fast and we will be right here starting over again if this front office tries the same ol "build through the draft and hope for a miracle" plan.

Like the ol saying goes, "It takes a fool to continue doing the same things, while expecting a different result".

Win now is somewhat ridiculous considering the state of the franchise but c'mon we've been building for the last 10 years...

Hey we don't suck for luck either

We just suck to suck.......
