Hold the Presses...new possible trade partner

Washington doesn't want to trade. They want to make people think they want to trade because they look like fools for leaking their desire to get Jason Campbell with that 25th pick. They are currently conducting an internal investigation to find out who leaked the information on Campbell.

There will be no trade. There have been talks, but Miami isn't getting what they want in return. Unlike some of you, Nick isn't going to settle for less value.

how would kc possibly have anticipated us making a trade with washington, who before two days ago, only had one first round pick. if this is true, which i doubt, it's not like kc has had it planneed all along.

Sounds right....better than #2 and surtain...and nothing more. Even if you cancel out Surtain with Johnson...we still have the 15th, 25th and 46th picks.

#15 is about Alex Barron/Jamaal Brown time.......25, maybe Matt Jones......46, could net Fason.....I'd love to see that happen!:D

Remember, Larry Johnson is a Penn State back - name one Penn State RB that has done anything in the NFL in the last 10-15 yrs. O.K. he's big, but he's not as versatile as people may think. Not to mention, he had HUGE holes to run through in Penn State - I could've looked like a star.

I'm listening to Sporting news radio on XM and a K.C. fan is on...saying that the newest hot rumor going on there is this....Washington want's to trade with the Dolphins....the Dolphins number 2 pick for Washington's 9th and 25th picks. Sounds reasonable....now the interesting part....K.C. has been blowing smoke concerning Surtain....most if not all teams know the Chiefs need a corner...but the chiefs want the other teams to believe that they are going after a corner in the draft...instead they are going to trade for surtain using the 46th pick and this is where it gets better....they are going to trade up to the Dolphins 9th pick by trading their 15th pick and Larry Johnson. This way they get their corner and the player they feel they need to move up for. The Dolphins get their Running back...plus they have the 15th and 25th and 46th picks.
Frankly I have to believe it....I don't think any person could figure out why the chief's wouldn't trade the 46th pick for a pro-bowl corner...it just didn't make any sense...what possible player could they get with the 46th pick that could come close to a player like Surtain...but after hearing this...it all comes together. The Chiefs get their two players...they get cap space by trading Larry Johnson...who hasn't had much chance to play behind Holmes...and the Dolphins settle the running back position with a big back that can catch and block...and acquire the additional picks Saban wanted. Lets hope this works out...if it comes to pass...it'll be the best trading day we have had in awhile!
GO PHINS!

This was put here on the board at 9:30 yesterday morning:

ki-jana carter :D

Besides, why would KC trade for Surtain and then trade up to get a DB? I know its important to have 2 good DBs but they have way too many holes to do that

Ugly rumor getting out of hand out here. With a deal like that, we could end up with messy project players and no real instant impact or value per say.

I wouldn't want to be picking as high as 15 with my first. I'd rather execute a straight up trade with the Vikes for 7 and 18 or stay as is.

Not enough. Washington would need to ADD another pick

If Johnson were in this draft, where would he rate? Maybe a second round RB, early third? So, in other words, we trade our #2 for the #15, #25 and the #36 - #45 (approximate worth of Johnson if he were in this year's draft. Is that agreeable?

Larry Johnson, 2002: 2087 Rushing, 7.7 YPC, 349 Receiving, 20/3 TDs
Cedric Benson, 2004: 1834 Rushing, 5.6 YPC, 179 Receiving, 19/1 TDs
Ronnie Brown, 2004: 913 Rushing, 6.0 YPC, 313 Receiving, 8/1 TDs
Cadillac Williams, 2004: 1165 Rushing, 4.9 YPC, 152 Receiving, 12/1 TDs

I'd love for somebody to explain to me how Johnson isn't better than the other three. Larry Johnson ran a 4.4 40 and benched 225 19 times in the strength aspect. How somebody can honestly say that Ronnie Brown is better based on his combine performance is beyond me. He was a more complete back and if roughly half of last season serve as an example, Johnson will continue to succeed in the NFL. At Penn State he was the difference between winning and losing - his junior year, when he was only played by committee for some unknown reason, Penn State went 5-6. His senior year, they went 9-3. After leaving, they fell to 3-9. The one thing that changed the most was the loss of LJ. He put up the best YPC on the Chiefs last year - and to those who say the Chiefs simply can put a back behind their line, that's not true anymore. Priest has taken a beating, and their line is getting old.

It wasn't Johnson's performance - or talent - that caused doubt. Some people are dumb enough to believe that nothing more than the jersey you wore in college can make or break you in the NFL. Some people are sold down the river when they get stuck with a bad team and don't immediately put up huge numbers. I'm sure there were probably people last year who said nobody from Miami of Ohio would be a worthwhile quarterback.
