I understand the Dolphins appear to be at the very least disorganized right now. I KNOW they ended up 6-10. However, what this weekend in the NFL showed is that no team is ever that far way from making a run in the playoffs.

I hear all the time around here about going 9-7 or 10-6 and "just getting a Wildcard" is simply being mediocre. IMO, it is all about getting in and giving yourself a chance. A chance to get some good match ups, catch a few breaks and make a run...

Look at the Fins right now...tell me they would not have a chance to beat Houston last week in the 1st round? While I believe the Pats would have beaten the Fins the following week, I would also concede that after seeing Baltimore yesterday, the Fins could have matched up with them and won a close game.

My point is that while we might feel like we are in the abyss right now, with more direction from the top, consistent QB play, a strong FA offseason and quality draft, I feel the Fins can make a run in the near future.

I agree with your main point but.... I do feel even if it didn't look it yesterday Baltimore is way ahead of us. And it's mainly due to consistency and a superb defense

Consistency is something the Fins need get a heck of a lot better at...good point.

Thank you. By getting the best coach available who ever it is will go a long way to helping that part of it, IMO he and Ireland NEED to get a QB at all costs

things can change so quickly in this leage- from good to bad and bad to good. Look at my team, a year ago today we beat NE and were thinking SB, this year everyone wants to fire everyone. IF Miami gets the right choice at HC(I don't know who that would be) they certainly can pull a Cincy or Detroit or maybe even better. Look at how bad the Giants looked in week 15 losing at home to a bad Skins team to fall to 7-7 and now it looks like they will got back to the SB.

lets hope not, lol

How do you become consistent? Changing coaches every 3 years? I think it is imperative the Dolphins understand the curves of learning. Rome wasn't built in one day. I think we have some pieces but are not a player away from becoming a good team but then again in today's NFL who knows! Look at the 49ers, have you told me they would have gone past Green Bay in the playoffs at season's start I would have probably laughed out loud. More then anything in this league you need a lot of luck. You need the cards to play in your favor. It's not always about talent, but in order to get consistency you need a scheme to follow year in and out. They will fail trying to learn the book but only in the end is when you may or may not see it come to frutition. I think more then anything what we need is patience once we hire the new coach. Rule of tumb give him two to three years to get things right.

to be consistent is by getting the best coach we can and him and Ireland finding a QB

I agree with this even though I think it's more imperative that we upgrade at qb. If history has shown us anything it's that quick turn arounds, for better or worse, are highly possible. It just takes the right people. We'll see if that happens.

I love the enthusiasm, all we need is consistency, a QB, a TE, S, a fill in for JT, 1/2 an OL a good HC, a GM who is ahead of the curve instead of trying to catch up, a few good FA's, a quality draft a #1WR who actually catches ....ya I'm excited.....

And another year where we hear that we are going to be aggressive in the off season........and then pass or can't sign the quality we need and the GM finally gets it way into the season when theres no viable options left.....(been happening for several years)
tired of the rhetoric.....just going to sit back with little expectations and hope that they actually do what they say for the first time...
Hey we can be a force again just going to take a huge effort and a substantial amount of luck to.....Maybe losing Fisher is a sign of a little luck..God I hope they get it right.............

Who's enthusiastic? Right now we are sans coach and currently have an average starting qb.

My point is maybe not clear enough....

In my mind I'm tired of all the BS talk and in reality nobody knows who IS and who's going to end up being that quality coach, (look at the last decade we had and at one point everyone probably was happy with at least one of our picks). Have grown to have little faith in our FO and listening to them is not much different from the spiel from the media.......talk with little to no substance..
I think we have reach the point of an organization running on luck rather than actual professional wisdom and insight...
Good thing is our luck has been so bad that the odds keep getting greater that luck may change and actually give us a kick start to turning this whole damn train wreck around.......

"I"m tired as hell and I'm not going to take it"..................Oh crap who am I fooling I'm to hooked on this aggravating team and can't detach even when I try.........

Agree with the thread starter 100%. I live in New England and before our week 16 matchup with NE I guaranteed to many Pats fans we would present a much bigger challenge to the Pats than what was presented in their overhyped matchup with Denver. They thought I was nuts but I was right. There is no doubt in my mind that Matt Moore could have rolled into Foxboro on Saturday night and given the Pats a better game. I also think we give every other AFC playoff team a run for their money. That's what makes this season do discouraging. The 11 Dolphins were not going to be hoisting the Lombardi trophy in early February but they are better than 6-10. The 6-3 run proves that.

we would have gotten rolled in the postseason unless we got a cupcake like the bengals or tj yates to give us the game...rolled

and hell we could have lost to cinci also...although i think it would worst case be a heck of a game
