At this time of year there is usually an optimism in the air for the future of our football team. I understand the frustration of those that have watched the last three years bring dashed dreams to ALL of us as fans. However if you have been a fan like me for 34 years, there have been way more disappointing moments than celebrations. Even through the Marino years when we were at least competitive, we never won a SB and often were crushed by the Bills which was very hard to stomach.

I see that being optimistic in the face of high odds is what some here call being a "homer". And if you subscribe to the theory that Miami has NO chance to become better or to compete no matter what they do, you are considered a "hater".

I am not realistic because I hope for my team to do well and try to find some reasons to look forward to the next season. I call that being a die hard fan. I am not a dreamer because I see the glass as half full instead of completely empty or even broken. I just choose to try to find ways that I can enjoy looking forward to the next season. I see many here that dont feel that way and take out their aggression and ill will on well meaning fans who merely want to look forward as opposed to bitching about what is not right.

I guess if that makes me a "homer" than I can accept that. I prefer to be optimistic in most of my views and glad that I am. I feel sorry for those people who find no joy in what the future holds for this team and can only criticize and try to berate anyone who thinks differently. Being a "hater" is much easier because it doesnt take a whole lot of skill to bitch. You vent and rant and point out what is wrong and let everyone know that you think they are stupid, delusional, morons who just dont "get it".

To me the truth is that its not all bad and its not all good. But as a FAN I choose to remain optimistic and have hope that my team will do better. So here's to the Homers and piss on the Haters. I am and always will be on the side of my team. Good or Bad. Win or Lose. I love my team and could never hate them or threaten to stop caring for the Miami Dolphins. It is what it is and I am what I am, but after carefull consideration I will no longer respond to negative comments. It is a waste of time. Some of us just dont "get it".

I am always hopefull. Thinks look bleak right now, especially if we lose out on both Manning and Flynn, because I think Tannheill is going to Cleveland at #4. Miami needs a QB, and they need one of those three.

I'm a pessimistic optimist.  And sometimes, Optimus Prime.

I'm the guy who hates labels and the trouble they cause when you get one side that looks down upon the other. homers/haters? all that matters is we all have our own opinion of what the team should be doing right now.

You don't back up anything you say or claim, just blindly rah rah your team. That's a homer. It's also the main reason you won't respond anymore to negative comments....

I am happy you learned to seperate paragraphs though.

I am a realist...

I hope for the best but watching the dolphins for 25-30 years teaches you not to expect it...

I personally know some pessimists and some optimists. Let me just say this. Thank God I am on the happey side. Because those pessimists live sad lives. Honestly. I can't imagine being pissed about everything. Especially the things I cannot control. Cheers to the Happy people!

Ironically, the "homers" are the ones bashing other fans more then the "haters". Even this thread consisted of: "So here's to the Homers and piss on the Haters."

I have no idea where this sentiment of "if you disagree with the front office then that means your less then a fan and i must insult you" came from. Sometimes the most loyal thing you can do is disagree with a course of action that is more harmful then helpful. People sometimes have to vent about a problem(a laundry list of problems actually) and i have no problem with that.

I am a Miami Dolphins fan. I recognize the Miami Dolphins are bigger then Jeff Ireland. The Miami Dolphins are bigger then Stephen Ross. The Miami Dolphins are bigger then any player on this roster. I was a fan of the Dolphins before those GM's, owner, or players and i will still be a fan after they are long gone.
And yes, i could be classified as a hater. I hate 6 wins seasons. I hate trading away the best player on the team. I hate that we haven't filled the most important position on the team. I hate that we cannot use our second round picks worth a damn. I hate that we never make the playoffs. The fact that people are perfectly fine with all those things disturbs me more then my "hate".

I tend to try and be optisimitc and think positive.

Right now I'm a disapointed homer.. I think my team can win it with Who ever lines up every week... Well except for those few Cleo Lemon games. I just don't see enough on offense right now. What I do know if we get Blackmon, Richardson, or Tannenhill. My hope will be restored.

Your post praises your outlook, and destroys anyone who disagrees with you. Was irony the intent of your post?

It also doesn't take a lot of skill to break into applause every time the teams shoots itself in the foot--or the head.

I give them credit for the Philbin hire and getting rid of Marshall. There are still some pretty big holes to fill before September and they have a lot of work to do. I am cautiously optimistic they will at least try to improve the team during that time.

What exactly is wrong with rooting for your favorite team? I'm a fan of the TEAM, not the players. If you're so hot for Peyton, then go root for the Titans or the Broncos. They're the ones that are going to have Peyton. I'm still going to be rooting for my Dolphins, no matter who we put out there at QB next year. I rooted for them when Marino was QB, and I rooted for them when Cleo Lemon was QB.

I don't care who it is next year. I don't care if it's Peyton Manning, Matt Flynn, Matt Moore, Ryan Tannehill, Curtis Painter, or the ****ing waterboy! I'm still going to be wearing my jersey proud, watching every game, while you sulk in your sad, miserable life because your team didn't sign a player that you want
