At this time of year there is usually an optimism in the air for the future of our football team. I understand the frustration of those that have watched the last three years bring dashed dreams to ALL of us as fans. However if you have been a fan like me for 34 years, there have been way more disappointing moments than celebrations. Even through the Marino years when we were at least competitive, we never won a SB and often were crushed by the Bills which was very hard to stomach.
I see that being optimistic in the face of high odds is what some here call being a "homer". And if you subscribe to the theory that Miami has NO chance to become better or to compete no matter what they do, you are considered a "hater".
I am not realistic because I hope for my team to do well and try to find some reasons to look forward to the next season. I call that being a die hard fan. I am not a dreamer because I see the glass as half full instead of completely empty or even broken. I just choose to try to find ways that I can enjoy looking forward to the next season. I see many here that dont feel that way and take out their aggression and ill will on well meaning fans who merely want to look forward as opposed to bitching about what is not right.
I guess if that makes me a "homer" than I can accept that. I prefer to be optimistic in most of my views and glad that I am. I feel sorry for those people who find no joy in what the future holds for this team and can only criticize and try to berate anyone who thinks differently. Being a "hater" is much easier because it doesnt take a whole lot of skill to bitch. You vent and rant and point out what is wrong and let everyone know that you think they are stupid, delusional, morons who just dont "get it".
To me the truth is that its not all bad and its not all good. But as a FAN I choose to remain optimistic and have hope that my team will do better. So here's to the Homers and piss on the Haters. I am and always will be on the side of my team. Good or Bad. Win or Lose. I love my team and could never hate them or threaten to stop caring for the Miami Dolphins. It is what it is and I am what I am, but after carefull consideration I will no longer respond to negative comments. It is a waste of time. Some of us just dont "get it".
