hoops preseason game 1 quick hitters...

You're not the only one who sees Hartline and his tendency to fall after the catch. I don't get it...

i think john jerrys showed ok in the 2 deep oline...to me you keep him and garner out of this group...berger i think gets the axe...

but i can also see us going and getting someone else off the street or cuts

interesting to see garner playing some center in this game...hmmmm

I wouldn't mind seeing us bring in O'Hara and put Pouncey at LG where he should be playing imo.

Daniel Thomas was just too geeked up, I think. The game was going a million miles an hour for him out there. He'll settle down. One of his better attributes on his college tape was his patience. He'll get it.

Agree with you on Jerry and Garner (though I didn't watch Jerry much). Those two guys are staying, especially Garner. They also seem to like Feinga for some reason.

Hmm when i started playing football in highschool i had a diving issue
I would intentional slow down and then dive for the ball to make a great catch
Coach chewed me out and said stay on your feet and you will get us more yards..

I think the turf had something to do with falling yesterday livis slipped like 4 times

Hartline has done it a few times since being a Dolphin though so I think it's more than just the turf.

Garner was playing center the entire 4th quarter ... looks to me he is becoming a very important man along the line .. he now can play 4 positions ...

matt moore threw a ball with pressure on his throwing arm that was absolutely outstanding in the center of the field and coverage all around to wallace...big time throw...guys arms pretty average but he's a solid athlete and that throw was money

moore under a lot of pressure from sidbury on garner and whoever feinga is responsible for...
The TD he threw to Gates was a laser. Though he doesn't have Henne's arm, it's adequate and I'll take adequate with touch when needed any day.

1. I actually thought that Edds is a decent athlete. I saw him cover downfield pretty well.

2. Odrick was a total stud.

3. Wilson has legitimate potential. He has the total package. Look forward to the day he is ready and he and R Jones start at S. They can make plays.

4. Fasano is still a stiff. Disappointed they didn't get anyone else there. Mastrud? Are you serious? Backup TE is a glaring problem AGAIN. Clay looks shorter than I thought. I guess he will be a FB but could be an X factor.

5. R Wallace is really coming along. I want him to get an increased load of snaps this year. If we have more 3 wide sets, he can be a weapon, especially considering how putrid our TEs are.

6. I agree Marlon Moore should go. He's just a guy. Gates' route running surprised to the upside.

7. Sheets dances way too much. Get rid of him. The kid from Arizona has much better running instincts. Hilliard has no shake in him at all. Definitely agree about getting another back. Why this regime didn't get Snelling is beyond me. He would have been perfect. I'm not sold or down on DT yet.

8. Livas looks 5'1. Long way to go before we anoint him a spot.

9. We look a couple of athletic LB's short. I agree that Spitler has to go. Way too slow. I guess we dumped the fire hydrant kid we had from Kentucky last year. I think Edds can be fine as a backup. But who is our 4th inside linebacker? Surely not Lyle Menendez or whoever that imposter wearing number 57 was. Francis is slow as a 4th OLB but may make the team because he can set the edge. Trusnick didn't flash but I guess we can play him on ST.

10. Henne just has no feel. Moore hung in there on some throws but also panicked and took off fast under duress other times. Like his feel and attitude better than Henne's. Both suck TBH.

11. The awful OL likely will be Sparano's downfall. No excuses. Long and Pouncey and that's it. I'm hoping Murtha is serviceable.

12. What do you think? 5-11 and just out of reach of Luck and Barkley?

Hartline tends to get a bit excited when he has an opportunity to make a big play it seems. His stumbling happens a lot. Then again it seems like our whole team had that problem.

The Ricky Williams run last year against the Titans, where he was breaking away from the defense but suddenly stumbled over his feet and fell to the grass...it's like a microcosm for this regime. When it seems like it's getting going, we stumble. What's going to bring our balance back?

One thing I noticed watching a bit more: the best pulling interior lineman we have (other than Pouncey) is John Jerry. For such a big man, he's quick, has good feet and can turn upfield and find work. Orders of magnitude better than Incognito. Unfortunately, Jerry doesn't arrive with huge power (I saw a linebacker basically stone him) and he plays with poor/mediocre leverage (lunging, etc), but the guy absolutely has talent. Of course, we all knew that of him coming out of college. But I don't remember him pulling much last year and after watching so much tape of McQuistan and the rest of our lead footed retards on the move last year watching Jerry on some of the cuts from last night was a revelation.

The guy could make a very nice LG if he just freakin' worked at it. I don't get it. Damn what he wants or is comfortable with. We should move him over to LG and tell him he's going to get cut unless he gets his ****ing *** together.

My only problem with that play is it highlighted a problem I see come up again and again with Hartline when I study the tape: the guy falls down a lot for no reason. As soon as he gets the ball in his hands and he starts running he trips over his own feet and stumbles to the ground. Happens over and over again. There was literally no reason for him to stumble and fall into the end zone on that play. None. It was a perfectly thrown ball he caught at his waist. If we had been five yards farther away he wouldn't have scored. If we had been twenty yards away -- God almighty. Imagine he catches that ball with an easy touchdown in front of him and he just falls down (this happened last year on a flea flicker against Tennessee IIRC). Hartline's inability to keep his balance with the ball in his hands is extremely frustrating. I mean, what good is a "deep threat" who does this?

Totally agree. Been saying this since his rookie year. Kid is clumsy, seriously clumsy. As soon as his hands start working his legs shut down. Not a good poster child for male multi-tasking!

Livas did show some great balance on his long return when the punter hit him. I hate how he tried to be fancy on the return after his TD, but I get that he's a fringe player just trying to impress the coaches. On an unrelated note, did you see Ingram's TD run yesterday? He has the balance of a ballerina.

yes i did...and the total package was on display on that run...the elite vision the great balance and the ballerina feet...its funny though so many of these guys look tiny in nfl unis now...just big difference in the overall size of guys b/t the nfl and college

i think 6-10...haven't seen anything yet to change it...i was more impressed with the offensive sets on the live internet feed i had than i was yesterday when i was reviewing the game...maybe it was the beers friday night...although it still looks a lot more intuitive than that crap last year with dan henning

i didn't even enjoy reviewing this games tape...just a lot of meh i saw out there...not many guys jumping off the screen at me
