If you watch in the Bucs game Tannehill was able to play pitch and catch during those situations. LB's will no longer be able to creep up towards the line of scrimmage and are going to have to respect Tannehill. Tannehill threw for 100 yards for Crist sake in one god damn quarter against the Bucs because of it. Defenses will have to adjust.

This is one of the reasons I'm predicting Tannehill is going to have a monstrous year, as far as stats go. Guys like Rex Ryan will go with the tried and true method of stopping the run to stop our offense but he'll be in for a rude awakening and we'll crush them through the air. Basically, they will be way too slow to adjust, they'll need to see it to believe it and they will see it. But it'll be too late to do anything about it.

I do think we'll be able to move the ball more consistently through the air in this offense, and that should lead to a big increase in points scored. Last season our offense was very good in the red zone, but we had a lot of 3 and outs. I think that if we can have more consistency in moving the ball (i.e. fewer 3 and outs), our offense can reach the 400 point goal that Joe Philbin has been talking about recently.

Our QB is good in the red zone, that's one thing we do know; if we get better between the 20s, this team can score points.

It sure would be nice to have a prolific aerial attack where we can presumably get up on teams early and make them play to our strengths..which is rushing the passer. My only hope is that we run the ball well enough to keep teams honest and we can run off critical time late in games.

This team last year would always let teams hang around..which is why we were mediocre. It doesn't play to our strengths that way. This offense needs to be aggressive early so the D can pin their ears back

The draft rankings will change immensely by the time the draft rolls around and there is no way this team drafts in the top 10. If the Fins draft where I expect them to (low 20's) no RB will have value for them.

While I think we're improved this year, I really think people are underestimating how brutal a schedule we have this year:
Pats twice as ushue, Chiefs, Packers, Bears, Chargers, Broncos, Ravens, - most/all of those teams would be favoured over us today. Then you have the Jetsx2, Billsx2, Vikes and Lions who we might be marginal favourites over. Then you'd expect to beat the Jags and Raiders any given Sunday.

9-7 would look outwardly like a very marginal upgrade over last season, but for me it would represent a pretty decent step forward - not only in being a winning season, but the vast difference in calibre of opposition from one year to the next. I'm obviously hoping for better, but Philbin's target for 25 points a game is an absolute must have if we are to have any chance against some of the teams we'll face this year.

Eh, I don't really worry about the schedule. Judging it based on the prior year standings never really works. Look at how often the playoff teams change every year.

At the beginning of the season if you would have told me that last year the Fins would beat the Steelers in the snow and the Patsies the next week at home after trailing by 10 I'd have said no way. Then if you would have told me they would beat the Chargers, Bengals, Colts, and Atlanta, and still missed the playoffs I would have said you are ****ing crazy.

My point being is that every week any NFL team can beat any NFL team. To me the Phins have the talent to be a playoff team, they just need the consistency required to do it.

Let's say this team finishes at 8-8. In light of your comments above- which I agree with, what do you think the thought process of ownership will be going forward? I already know alot of fans will want Philbin gone (coaching staff) and maybe Hickey along with them. If progress is being made with this team and it turns out that we have a good offense coordinator (been a while), I would prefer that ownership stay the course.

I'm just totally speculating here, but I have heard rumors that Ross is still interested, and people have suggested that the Tannebaum as consultant move was part of that. My guess is that Ross, being infatuated with all things Michigan, still wants him here.

You look at the rumblings about Harbaugh and the 49ers being destined for a split, and I think it's definitely something worth throwing out there. As for whether or not he'd be willing to come, it's my understanding that a big part of Harbaugh's dissatisfaction in SF is the money.

I'll bet all of my vcash that Ross would offer him $10 million or more a season to lure him here.

If Harbaugh is actually interested in the Dolphins getting to the playoffs or not this year probably won't matter Ross would hire him regardless. If Harbaugh is not interested would you still start over?

The Harbaugh-Gamble connection works even more thoroughly if you get to two of the most interesting potential Harbaugh candidate teams, the Raiders and Miami. Remember, Miami owner Stephen Ross reportedly offered Harbaugh more money than the 49ers offered in 2011–in fact, 49ers execs believed Harbaugh was about to take the Miami job before he called York the night after his Dolphins meeting and re-started the talks that finally sent him to the 49ers.

Coincidentally, Gamble was a strong candidate for the open GM job last January, but stayed in Philadelphia.

Yeah, I think you're right. I think if Harbaugh is interested Joe Philbin is in deep ****. He's going to need to win 10 games or 9-7 with a wild card win or he's toast in that scenario.

Again this is all 100% speculation on my part, but the rumor mill is churning again and given Steve Ross's inability to keep things a secret in the past, I just kinda think there's some fire to this smoke.
