hoops scoops...bucs fins

I'm not worried about the running game. We were 8-6 with no running game to speak of. And the passing game will open up the running game. That play fake where Landry slipped in behind the linebackers and got wide open will do more for our running game than anything. And if the linebackers keep biting on the fake then just keep passing. When you start gashing defenses in the air they'll soften up and create the room to get your 4 yards even with lesser run blocking linemen.

Hoops nails it again. Great thread.

I think you are spot on with your Jordan comments. The defensive coaches can't figure out what they are doing with him.

Will Davis has some Asante Samuel potential in him IMO.

How about Gibby? The kid makes critical plays regularly. He's got savvy. When the going gets tough, look for Gibby.

17 looked comfortable and in command. He belongs and he knows it.

Hartline with that lack of toughness and physicality again where he couldn't catch in traffic. Matthews and Landry are much tougher.

I thought Colledge struggled too. The run blocking was the worst thing I saw.

I'd be intrigued to go with Brackett on the 53.

I'm a Jimmy Wilson fan but I'm not convinced Safety is the right role for him. Are there any other options re starting Safety, eg Walt Aikens, Mike Thomas, Don Jones? Jimmy is very safe in the nickel role, maybe it is worth trying Mike Thomas in the starting position in one of these preseason games to see how he goes. He looks pretty solid and I love his attitude.

anyones guess is as a good as mine when it comes to egnew...has he earned a spot nah but this teams not got much at tight end...hartline loses physically plenty and its a big reason why he waste downs in the red zone pretty much but he also tries to catch everything with his body and when guys close it makes a difference

this offense should be tailor made for egnew there is scheme driven production written all over it...but if they wait for him to separate from coverage it won't happen...they might as well stop trying

i would stick with jimmy wilson as the starting safety...michael thomas size plays against him as an every down safety

Lol on the Wheeler dumb numb rhyme. That kid is so stupid I'd be happy to cut him even if we gain nothing on the cap, just to show accountability and so he doesn't infect the younger players with stupidity. I know Philbin wouldn't do it but you know Wheeler is good for an insane penalty on 3rd and long that extends a drive in a game we end up losing close. Late hit, illegal blow to the head, personal foul, something stupid. Just knowing that scenario is so possible makes me want to pay him off just to get rid of him. Younger guys see him cut and they'll think "crap, it doesn't matter what you make, you can't be fat and happy and need to produce.".

:sidelol:

Watch out hoops, you are about to start a WAR.

hey i'm sorry but he's a between the 20s wr and a to the sticks one...which made him under shermans easily readable offense the bait one...in the red zone you do him a favor if you play zone and you can sit on the slant routes in off coverage...or at least you could under sherman...

you run a fade with him in the end zone you may as well kneel on the ball

Oh no, I agree with you 100%. I'm just saying that because if you check that thread about Wallace catching with his hands, a couple of people got mad when we said Hartline is a body catcher.

agreed...while i think the clean blitz pass rusher has some value the lb and the situational smarts of the player couldn't be worse...i have seen so many 3rd and longs false steps in coverage for no damn reason or stupid personal fouls from that guy not to mention all the horribly late clean to the ball play or overrunning things that i just can't wait to lose the guy...that contract floors me...i bet his agent did a double take and agreed so fast miami couldn't even reconsider...complete market whiff on a scheme driven production lb...complete...i'm so tired of that guy with his hands on his head after another kamikazee like moronic play...cut weight...

that's exactly what he is...i don't think he catches anything with his hands...

A serious question here hoops - what is it about the offense that might generate scheme-driven production for Egnew? Excuse my ignorance.

Good job! Landry is potentially not only the best receiver on the roster, but hopefully will turn into the best we've had since Marshall (and be a helluva lot more motivated and a better teammate too.). However, in the here and now, factoring in dependability, clutch, route running, fighting for the ball and additional yardage, IMO Gibson is our best receiver and should be lining up on the other side of Wallace with Landry in the slot.

you are gonna have a lot of back side off hard lateral movement he entire line weakside leak out opportunities with the tight end if what i think is coming does...you have all the roll out calls to work with and the defense by the spread formations we line up in will give you things in the flats etc and expect to rally to the ball...the difference between scheme driven production and player driven is pretty much the ability to defeat or dictate to coverage...defenses will give you some things with their coverage schemes and your play design but can your player take things or force the defenses hands...do you have something they don't expect or aren't willingto give you talent wise...

you can force teams to declare coverage with formations and motion...i expect lazor to make defenses declare...not to mention the late motion with the tight ends means teams will account for clay as much as possible cause he's proven and other tight ends should have favorable matchups...clay told the league last year you must account for me

Good write up Dude. I honestly think Damien Williams is the most exciting RB option we have until Moreno comes back. I always wanted to like Miller, but how many explosive RBs have had the opportunities he has had and not taken one to the house? Like Ricky or Reggie? I hope, but don't think he is the guy.
