hoops scoops...jets fins...one last time for the ole gipper i guess

i liked what mckinnie brought to us in pass pro relative to what we were getting before...yes...he could handle himself better on an island than what we had prior...as far as not getting the pocket collapsed from the outside in

McKinnie cannot be brought back. His run blocking was horrible. I think his knees are shot. Almost every running play against the Jets ended with McKinnie standing straight up, hands on hips, blocking no one. He almost never finished his blocks. He just can't do it anymore. No shame in that.

agreed...he did make one nice block on a lb at the 2nd level on an inside run game where miller i think it was made a good 11 yard gain...i almost fell out of my chair when i saw who it was with the block at the 2nd level...but i cant count how many times the wide edge defender to his side would go right by him and crash down from the backside and gobble up our rb at the los while he stood there almost erect doing nothing...has to get a shoulder into a guy at least or something

Still would like to read your stuff prior to the draft. Last year your 2013 per draft post supported some of the picks Ireland made though

Believe you also were hoping we got Keenan Allen

I don't need PFF to tell me that John Jerry is absolutely worthless in run blocking. He is completely unreliable to run behind.

Pouncey is a good run blocker. Brenner showed some decent run blocking because he can move some. Yes, he got completely manhandled by Buffalo. But there is some potential there, not that he can be relied on at this point. What do Pouncey and Brenner have in common? They can move.

If Philbin is hell bent on not adjusting his schemes to his personnel, then Miami needs some movement offensive linemen. 4, please.

So...you'd rather have Buttfumble than Peyton in the postseason because?

he hasn't choked in 6 games, Peyton routinely chokes.

and now i got to read this crap

and this...

sorry the truth hurts.

Stop with this nonsense. Geno Smith is garbage and will always be garbage. I might let him sell me a used car in a couple years though.

Maybe he is but he was by far the best QB on the field last Sunday.

i truly believe...all the way...i have seen nothing to say anything different...if he hits half those verticals to wallace this year he's a 30 plus td qb in year 2...this boards funny

he was not awful...his worst play was the all the time in the world stand in the pocket and stay with mathews despite triple coverage to that side of the field too long and then throw it down the middle uncatchable...he should have worked to the other side of the field...honestly though he had so much time i think he got nervous cause he's so not used to it...like it put him in shock

as for the slide play look at it again it looks to me like hes past the line to gain when he starts but by sliding he makes it a judgement call...and you lose in those scenarios a lot...still i'm ok with what he did when that many defenders converge...had he stayed on his feet and fumbled on helmet to ball contact like he did vs the saints this board would have cried like girls...

the next play you call a qb sneak on 4th and a football instead of a fb dive with clay who everyone and thier mother is ready for now and the drive continues...same for mathews catches a crosser at the like 50 yard line on 3rd down with nothing but green grass in front of him that's a 30 yard gain and in scoring position...

the qbs maybe the best player on this team period...already

he led his O to 7 pts, no matter how you feel about certain throws, decisions, etc... he led your O to a total of 7 pts in the final 2 games of the year COMBINED. I didn't see the Buf game, I did see the jet game and he was terrible overall. Had some good moments but w/ the season on the line he couldn't get it done in back to back weeks.

This doesn't mean he's done, I am NOT burying him. He has ability, he's an average QB right now, if he was above average you'd be playing this week but he can take that next step next year.

what i would like to see improvement wise from tannehill in 2014 is the vertical accuracy...i saw on his a & m tape that he didn't have great vertical accuracy or even attempt that many deep balls and i chalked it up to more or less him not having a vertical win option at that time...which he didn't...but this year showed me he has to clean up some things on his vertical accuracy and convert more than he did...cleaning up some footwork issues would help and i have come to the conclusion that a qb coach upgrade would make a difference...

also he needs to be better than 34th in 4th quarter qbr...that is the money time of the game i need to see growth there...although it's odd to me cause he lead drives for points late in games or game ending drives on manyof our wins...anyways it needs to get better

and finally the pocket management and feel...more lateral movement with his feet to find space...climbing the pocket when it's there and taking off and running to give him self more time and space if not take what is given and slide...in the 3 step drop if the initial read is not there with our current oline he could not afford to go to the 2nd progression before he was engulfed hopefully some of that will get shored up with a better oline in front of him but if not he needs to realize he cannot just sit there on things where the ball is designed to come out quick...

all of these things i think can be cleaned up with time and more reps...

pretty much the extent of it...clean some of these things up and you have yourself a top shelf level nfl qb

We're going to get to find out next season exactly what Tannehill is made of.

I believe Philbin could give a rats ass about being balanced, if the defense shows a pass friendly look 100% of the time we're going to pass 100% of the time. Barnwell and Mays talked about a study in a podcast this season that shows teams are still too balanced and not taking advantage of the new passing league enough, teams with crap QBs don't pass enough and teams with top QBs especially don't pass enough. According to the study everybody is behind the curve and too conservative. If people want innovation and cutting edge this is it, Philbin is trying to make that leap. Because of this Philbin should be Tannehills best friend, our team is going to be placed directly on his shoulders next season and if nothing else he's going to put up some huge numbers. The nice thing for us fans is this philosophy will expedite the evaluation process greatly, we'll know almost for certain what we have in Tannehill by the end of next season and if Philbins system can work, we'll either win a ****load of games or be back at 8-8 again and can safely start over.

I have my doubts it'll actually work but I am all strapped in and willing to find out, just hoping like hell we see it through to fruition and Philbin isn't canned prematurely.
