hoops scoops...potential #19 pick lb cj mosley tale of the tape

I don't think there's even a question that this guy is 1st round talent. I can't see how anyone could make a case that CJ Mosely is 2nd round talent.

My only reservation about drafting him at #19 is because we have greater needs and because of medical reasons. But to say this guy isn't 1st round talent is just way off.

IMO the needs on this team or o-line 1A and LB 1B. TE is a need as well but Clay proved last year he can hold down the fort if need be. Corner could be improved but they seem to be happy with the two second year guys. If all of the top tier tackles and Ebron are gone and if the Fins were able to trade down in the first and still pick up Mosely while getting an extra 2nd rounder to pick up a RT and TE (ASJ) I would be very happy.

Is it just me or are we going to have a **** load of good options at 19?

agree. whether it is at OL, WR, LB, etc. there will be many good fits to choose from. Now we have to see who is left on the board come #19 and who is a good fit vs who is a better fit.

I doubt he falls to us. I see the Giants picking up. I think Zack Martin would be a good pick here or maybe Eric Ebron if he slips past the Bills

I really think that what The Giants and stealers do will affect what is avialble to Miami. If both go OL then no way will Z Martin be on the board. If the G men go DL & putzburgh takes Dennard then ZM should still be around.

I'd love for Hickey & Philbin a drop a bombshell & take ASJ @ 19 just to cause Kiper to stroke out. It might even render Berman speechless...... nah!

Mosley makes a lot of sense. We get immediate production out of a 3 down LB and if he's great we'll get long term production too. Thats great value for a first round pick. Plus, I don't think any of the smokescreens released links us to him...

If he's the best guy that's available at 19, then I'd be ok with that. Although he has a little bit of injury risk, I don't see that as a huge risk vs. the upside. With our needs and with what could be available, I think we should definately get a starter and potential elite player out of our #19 pick. A top Tackle, TE, ILB, WR or DB should be there for us. While some of the elite prospects may be gone, I can't imagine all of them will be. I'd be more worried if we needed an elite QB, DE, or RB, as either they don't exist or will be long gone before they get to us.

One key thing I always want from my mike are the intangibles. Leadership, work ethic, first guy in the building, does the film work, gym rat. That seems to be Mosley's rep, right?

Well done Hoops. I would add Mosley's intelligence and to be a "coach on the field." Because of his ability to read plays quickly, he is able to get other players in the right positions, which we missed last year. With all the no huddles and hurry ups, this is a plus not to be overlooked.

definitely the qb of the field on the defense...gets guys lined up properly...i cant speak to the work ethic but he has to be a pretty good film junky with his read and dx...some guys can watch all the film they want and never figure it out or read it properly hell we got that in our lb core now and it's a big part of the problem ...

TB had their share of Saftey, ILB OLB and DTs -> down the middle seemed to be the philosohy

Agreed. Mosely is not as big, strong, fast, athletic or, have the higher upside as some others but, does make others around him better. In this regard he reminds me just a bit of ZT, who was also not big, strong, fast, athletic or with a big upside. He just made plays and made players better.

Mosley will be BPA at #19, and fits immediate pressing need. He has been on my board at #19 for months. No OL worthy of #19 will be there, neither will a WR. Fins go BPA, either Mosley or a S/CB, which ever is there.

My druthers however is to trade down perhaps with Cleveland if there's a QB there the they covet.

Isnt Mosley 6'2 230lbs? I met ZT, he was smaller than me and Im 6' 225. Not that it made much difference, and it shouldnt.

Looks like he pretty injury prone.

  • Dislocated his right elbow against Arkansas and sat out against Florida and Vanderbilt.
  • Suffered a dislocated hip in the BCS Championship Game against LSU.
  • Had offseason shoulder surgery to repair a torn right labrum.

Mosley is an outstanding player, but the injuries worry me, especially since each year the league gets more violent. Some say Shazier because he's faster and more athletic and to be honest I haven't watched the tape on him, but instincts trump all that on a MLB and Mosley's got that in spades.
