hoops scoops...potential #19 pick lb cj mosley tale of the tape

Looks like he pretty injury prone.

  • Dislocated his right elbow against Arkansas and sat out against Florida and Vanderbilt.
  • Suffered a dislocated hip in the BCS Championship Game against LSU.
  • Had offseason shoulder surgery to repair a torn right labrum.

This is a MAJOR concern, as we saw with Jordan and Taylor.

Amazing player... when he's not touched. And hands are so bad he may have negative interceptions by the time his career is over (not that its an important critique for LB).

Mosley is an outstanding player, but the injuries worry me, especially since each year the league gets more violent. Some say Shazier because he's faster and more athletic and to be honest I haven't watched the tape on him, but instincts trump all that on a MLB and Mosley's got that in spades.

Yeah, the game has changed and talent alone will no longer get it done. An average player who can read and react, being in the right position, is better than a good player who cannot. That goes for every position.

True, but instincts mean absolutley nothing if you arent on the field because youre always injured.

i dont recall, he dislocated a hip? that would concern me more than a shoulder injury geez.

I think getting a first rate mike linebacker would do wonders for our D. It seems like this has kind of been the weak link in the chain on our defense. My only concern I have is I have heard Mosley and Borland both have some injury question marks, with their shoulders. I would make sure I really check them out before grabbing them. Borland may be there at #50. He is a little undersized, but he has a nice motor and is a sure tackler.

Id take Shazier over Mosely personally. I think both have similar weaknesses with ability to shed blockers, etc. Mosely might get a bit of a nod with instincts but I dont think Shazier has poor instincts...and he's a much superior athlete.

I think a key point is whether or not you think Mosely can stick at Mike. If you think he can...then maybe he is your guy. However, Im not convinced...I think he is a better fit at Will...and if thats the case I am taking Shazier because I think he's better in that position.

Here's a good video breakdown:
