Teams are very rarely built around a running back. The great Offenses always had a great QB. With Gordon, RW and Morris we can make do.

What makes you think Rivers is a great NFL QB?

i think all of the great offensive teams usually had a great RB as well.

We had one of the greatest QB's of all time...how many Super Bowls did we win??

That's been brought up before.....While I'd like to trade for Rivers...I wouldn't trade brown for him.

I'd do Ricky (as you put...to back up LT) and send Boston back to them. That wouldn't bee enough though. Add a 3rd round pick with those two guys and maybe. Although I doubt they want Ricky right now (noone likely does) but I'd do Gordon, Boston and a 3rd round pick either next year or the year after (preferably the year after), but getting Rivers and his cheap contract (because we don't have to pay the signing bonus that SD already paid is worth not having a 3rd next year...even though we also won't have a 5th. I've been talking up Rivers for 3 years (since he was in Lousville) so I'd love to get him. I'd also add Sage to give them a backup...then turn around and trade Feeley to ANYONE for a 4th or 5th. If SD would do Feeley, Gordon or Ricky, and Boston or even Booker (who I don't want to trade at all) without the pick, I'd jump all over it.

Actually someone who might be an easier get could be Kitna. Feeley and Gordon should get it done for him.

exactly!! What has Rivers done to prove his trade value?? All he did was get a fat contract and hasn't proved anything...I see it as Rivers still a rookie even though he's a second year player...nothing stellar...

Even though this topic was just a thought or comment...it was really unnecessary. Some people just conjure up ideas that are never really relevant to what's really important. I can't wait til the start of pre-season so all these "what if" scenarios stop!!

With Ron Brown wanting a big guaranteed contract, wouldn't we be better off paying a QB like Rivers the big bucks. Brown would be a back-up to Tomlinson in San Diego.

wow / i've heard it all now......

I didn't know Rick Spielman was a Finheaven Member....

I don't think Brown for Rivers would be a bad deal. Rivers would be a little more of a risk because it's harder to evaluate qb's, but he looked pretty good in some limited action last year, and he's certainly got the potential. The only problem is that the Chargers are the wrong team to make a trade like that with. If you think Ronnie is having a hard time getting a contract from the fins, it would be even worse with the Chargers. Not only are they notorious for holdouts and low balling their top picks, but they already made Ladanian the highest paid RB in the league. There would have to be a 3rd team involved that wanted Ronnie in order for the fins to have a shot at Rivers.

There is no more guarantee that Brown will be a great NFL player and for the comment on Rivers not being a great college player,he was much better in college than Ronnie Brown. He started every game for 4 years.

good point, he wasn't really even a great college QB

WTF are you smoking?!?!

he was a PHENOMINAL college QB. He had great velocity on the ball, started every game in his career, led his team to how many bowls? Was the MVP in most of his bowls, put up HUGE numbers, and did all that without a decent running game his entire career. He's a stand up guy that always makes the right decisions.

You can argue that the cap ramifications would be too big for SD, or that they don't need Brown, but do NOT belittle a QB who had a phenominal college career to prove your point.

You've got a point, perhaps the Chargers are the wrong team to trade Brown to....Houston...that's the team...I'd trade Brown straight up for David Carr.

Houston's been looking for a dependable back...theirs keep getting hurt or are no good. If we're going to trade Brown for a QB then Carr is the one I want.

But in all honesty, Houston wouldn't do it, and we aren't trading Brown or should I say "the rights to Ronnie Brown". As much as I have always liked Ricky, yes, I was pissed but still like the guy, Williams is the RB more likely to be traded. Or even Gordon, who's actually the most likely to be traded.

Brown is going to be a dolphin, and I'm happy to have him......Unless Houston offers a Carr for our Hummer:) OK that was bad
